Respecting your peers 101

I will admit, I was very appalled at the way some hunters of the same faction treat one another. Most of the time, while camping for a rare, ppl are cordial and friendly with one another. Imagine my surprise when I logged onto the Beta this morning on the Lost Isles and continued my search for Terrorpene and was immediately greeted with the following:
(This is verbatim from the chat in game)

Malarwyn: YES! YES! I GOT TERRORPENE! F&@K YEAH!
Xxanthin: Aw Dman!
Xxanthin: Where at in the lava or by Nemesis area?
Xxanthin: Yes ..:)
Xxanthin: She wont go ... but
Xxanthin: tee hee
Malarwyn: laaaaaaaawl
Xxanthin: She'll be on petopia tellingpees it also spawns there....

a few seconds later, the following was said in general chat:

Xxanthin: Go away
Xxanthin: MINE

Now from this, it was obvious they were talking about me. They must have thought that I don't speak english/was farming ore or something (which, btw, I was NOT) and I found it despicable that they would purposely give people the wrong information in order to try and claim what they thought was theirs before even taming it. Sigh.....maybe I'm oversensitive, but to treat one another this way? Wow, I was downright surprised at their lack of maturity.

There have been times on both my regular server and the Beta when I came across other hunters looking for a rare pet and we would either completely ignore one another and not say a word, or strike up a conversation and share info/wish each other luck. That would have been the ideal scenario. Obviously, that is not what took place there.

I have met some really cool ppl in the game, for example: Wrathar and Damnhunter. You guys are awesome and friendly and I totally appreciate it and the advice you have given me regarding this pet and others I have been searching for.
My advice to ppl that treat each other is such a deplorable fashion? Man (or woman) up and keep a civil tongue in your mouth for what goes around will most definitely come around.

You would be suprised how many ignorant people there are out there. The funny thing is that could just point out.. hey this is beta.. whatever you tame means nothing and with how many people who are on petopia are looking for rares it wont be long until we find the spawn points, so being rude really isnt going to amount to anything. Oh and I would add NI HAO

Just dont let people bring you down, I have found some of the rudest people come out when it comes to rares for some stupid reason, like its the whole "if I cant get it, you cant and Ill do anything to prevent you from getting it". Its.. pretty sickening.

... Really? People are willing to do this in beta of all things? I'm going to guess that this guy reads up on these forums... So I'm gonna have to rant a bit now.
You do realise you're not going to be keeping this ultra cool pet, right? Once Beta is over, all your beta character info is GONE. You keep nothing. Squabbling over taming rights on beta is really, really dumb.
Guys, we're not looking for these creatures just so we can have more epeen than anyone else in the beta. We're gathering data for ALL hutners. Trying to mislead anyone willing to post their findings here is like shooting youself in the foot. Wain and all us other Beta testers have been going out and finidng all this info about Terrorpene, Madexx, Sambas and whoever else we manage to find so Mania can share it with everyone who wants it. We could be running the new dungeons or playing with other classes. But we're flying out, going to all corners of Azeroth so that you know what pets are out there.

Yes aside from the inanity of getting so worked up about what happens on beta, there is also the likelihood that if the guy knows about petopia, then very likely he's used info from this site to help with his tames at some point, yet is now actively trying to put up a smokescreen to prevent anyone else from finding out about "his" new rare, e.g. a shameless leech.

Just like the people selling stuff for 20k gold. I never understood that in the PTR and don't understand it in BETA. I miss when BETA started and people were actually helping each other out by putting stuff in AH for a copper buy out.

For me the most disturbing part is what Worba mentioned above, these players actually reading these forums. Think of diabolical players who notice.. oh they're on my server on live and want (pet). Must go steal/kill/grief.

When it comes to people, especially when on the internet, nothing surprises me anymore.:(

Now, I am not saying what the guy did was OK, far from that.
It was a horrible example of what can, but shouldn't ever happen.
Take it as a grain of salt, there are jerks out there and for some reason the anonymity of the internet seems to breed them.

My best advice is to ignore them and not take what they say at face value, because they are most likely being jerks to get a reaction out of you or trying to distract you while they find the spawn for themselves. (or whatever they are after)

(I have all sorts of examples of people being just like this when I was trying to tame King Krush. People saying that they would kill King Krush -just to- spite me. Ahh, the dregs of humanity...)

Just take a deep breath, take a break and get back to the game when you feel better. :)

Awesome, trolls on the beta. Too bad Blizzard can't screen for idiots like that. Hell, I'd report 'em for not contributing to the testing process and let the GMs over there determine if they've actually pitched in something useful or if they're just being jackasses. So many people don't beta test properly; I can't imagine that these nitwits aren't part of that group. (Yeah, that's right, jerkwads; I'm callin' you out for being USELESS.)

Beyond that, as was already said, ignore 'em. :)

Wherever you go, there's always a minority (albeit a vocal one) of trashy people :(

Always a pity when we come across this type of behaviour, i've always found fellow hunters to be really great camping companions, there's a few of us camping terror on Beta right now & a horde hunter came over, showed us their finds - Ghosty & Sambas - so we compared our 'rares' & then 1/2 hour later another hunter turns up & gets out their 'terror' to show us - turns out it was the horde hunter from before - they told us what time they got him & what his route was - so we all got one of our rare's out & had a rare party - thanks to Ayddan for the chance to meet Terror up close & personal & Lauryssa for helping to pass the time waiting for him:o)

Happy hunting folks
