Goblin Hunter Story- Daikoku-

In honor of my lost friend I decided to write a short story... So here goes.

Daikoku grabbed his coat tighter pulling it tight against his body.
He stood shivering in waist deep snow, with a small icicle slowly growing on the tip of his nose.
He coughed, creating a small cloud of frost as the moisture from his breath quickly froze solid.
After a minute or two he stomped he feet, trying to keep feeling in them as he waited.

Was his friend going to make him wait here forever in the cold?

As he stood shivering, a large low-to-the-ground figure quietly stalked up behind him.
The figure made sure to not make a sound as it took its time inching closer and closer.
But, just as the figure got into range it broke a small twig under the snow.

Daikoku started to turn in the direction he thought he heard a sound, but before he could he was suddenly struck from behind.
The figure bowled him over, sending him flying into the air.
He landed with very little grace, getting completely buried in the side of a snow bank.
The figure moved close to the snow mound and after looking at the effects of his attack he roared.
The loud roar echoed throughout the snow covered hills of Winterspring.

Suddenly from the mound of snow a whole bunch of swearing could be heard as the large snow bank shuddered.
“Damn you Taylor! If it is the last thing I do, I am going to skin your hide and use it as my new gyrocopter seat cover!” Daikoku yelled.

The figure that had been responsible for the "attack" was his companion and friend, a large white saber tiger named Taylor.

After quite a bit more ranting and swearing, Daikoku finally dug his way out of the snow bank.
As he leaned over gasping from breath he said, “Taylor…. I am…. going….to get….you….for…..this…”
Taylor quietly walked over to Daikoku and stood in front of him. The white saber tiger completely dwarfed the goblin.
Their eyes locked for a minute, neither giving an inch.
That was until Daikoku's strength failed, and he suddenly started to fall over to the side.
Taylor moved quickly and quietly next to him allowing Daikoku to catch himself on his shoulder.

As Daikoku pulled himself back up onto his feet he said, “Maybe… just this once… I will go easy on you.”
Taylor nudged him with his shoulder, almost sending him back into the snow, but this time Daikoku was quicker and he held fast.
A smile was apparent on the goblins face as Taylor leaned to the side allowing Daikoku to get enough leverage to climb up onto his back.

As the two friends slowly disappeared into the snow covered hills of Winterspring; Daikoku said, “The next time you want me to wait for you; don’t expect me to just wait there like some kind of target just so you can get the perfect pounce on me again.”

~Rest in Peace my friend, you will be greatly missed~
