8 1/2 hours. x__x Still no sign of him.

It's now to the point where I'm going to stay up all night if I have to. xD If I've been camping this long I can't let that all go to waste. Ahhh I hope he spawns.

Can I just say that I've never had this much of an adrenaline rush while taming before? I mean a serious adrenaline rush. Have you ever gone a day without eating and your blood sugar's so low that you feel all dizzy/weak/tingly? Yeah...that's what I felt like from the time NPCscan went off to the time the tame completed. o.o My hands actually had pins and needles in them, and my heart was thudding a mile a minute. xD

Anyways, as I said I had my boyfriend's laptop set up beside me with his character at the Snowdrift Plains spawn point, and my own character parked near the metal disc. I was sitting there chatting with some people in General Chat, and someone said that he should spawn in about 2 hours because that's when they had found him. I was like "Sweet! Maybe I only have a couple more h-" just then my train of thought is interrupted by OMGLOUDNOISES on laptop! I glance over and HOLYCRAPSKOLL!

My heart leaps up into my throat as I grab Veph and start flying madly to the other side of the map, praying that I'll make it in time. All I can think of is how popular that point was due to the ore nodes and such, I'd been seeing people fly past all day on the laptop screen.

I get there and freak for a moment when I see someone hovering over Skoll, then realize it's my boyfriend's character, lol!

I drop down onto a little rock nearby, drink a haste potion, throw a freezing trap down and hit him with a concussive shot. Then I start the tame and it all goes smoothly! I'm glad I had abandoned my other pet before hand. At first I was going to wait until I actually spotted Skoll in case I didn't need to abandon them, but my boyfriend suggested I do it anyways so that it's even faster to handle when the time came. Glad I listened to him. xD One less thing to think about during my jumbled thought process, lol!

I told myself I'd take screenshots before and during the tame, but that was probably the last thing on my mind. xD I went and took some back at the cliff though since it was nice and quiet there.

I take back everything I said about not liking Skoll because of the Northrend wolf model.....he's gorgeous and I love him. ^_^

It's happened to me multiple times...

I had an odd feeling that once you got to know Skoll a bit better you'd like him a lot more =3 He's my favourite of the Northrend wolves/spirit beasts and they sound so darn pissy when they head in to tear targets apart. Plus all that flashy lightning makes him stand out that much more.

Congratulations, dearheart! Now we need to give your new baby a worthy name =D

I'm keeping his name as Skoll I've decided. ^^ I dunno, I just don't think I could come up with something as fitting, and I feel as though he deserves that.

I honestly feel guilty at times because I stumbled across him one day while flying to do some dailies... not that I'd ever give him up...

I almost missed him too. I assumed that the yellow dot on the mini map was another of the hatchlings that fly around Bor's breath and get killed by harpies.

Anyway, congratulations on your hard earned companion!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! ^^ I'm truthfully just in awe of how beautiful he is.

On a slightly sad note, I decided to let go of the Gondria I tamed. It was a really difficult decision, but I realized that once I had Skoll I didn't need another Spirit Beast, and there just wasn't the same attachment. Though the circumstances of my Gondria tame were pretty awesome and memorable, the truth is I just didn't care for her as much as a pet. I think I was trying to force myself into loving her just because she was rare and a hard-to-find creature. It was a guilt-trip sort of thing. Plus the fact that I just happened upon her and wasn't sitting there for 10 hours waiting in anticipation.

Anyways, I brought her all the way back to Zul'Drak and released her at the exact point where I tamed her at. I like to think of it as letting her go for the next hunter who camps her. I hope someone else who's been wanting her gets her.

I think you handled it beautifully. It's totally something I would have done! I was really happy to find these boards with tons of crazy (but wonderful) people who think the same way I do as a Hunter.

I was recently very sad because I let go of a pet. My hubby said that I didn't let him go, I sent him to "our house" where he lives, with all the vanity pets. It was very cute.

Haha I actually saw you with him in-game before I read this post, but a very belated GRATS! He is very pretty, and I love the lightning look
