I logged onto beta recently and was pulling out my trusty old Turtle pet Ghamoora where upon viewing the preview stable thing i noticed a new skin.
So giving said ghamoora some fresh air i checked it out. Yup gone was the old red turtle version of the skin that every turtle has on Azeroth has and still does.
In its place is a new boss turtle skin, which I went way down into blackfathom deeps to check and yup Ghamoora is no longer a red version turtle but a grey and spikier higher detail model, still surrounded by his aku mai brethren, but sporting a new look much like the Turtles in Hyjal.
Excuse me if this has been mentioned before but i checked the stickies and couldnt see this change noted.
Cant wait for cata to go live so Ghamoora gets his new skin

I love the idea of having a pet surprise.. finding our your old trusty companion has had an upgrade without you having to go and re-tame them in a different skin. (as others do)

great news and helpful post! the change had indeed been spotted but i still didn't really know if my trusty Gamera (correctly renamed as i'm not afriad of copywrite) would evolve poke-style come cata or if i'd have to go tame him again. this puts my mind to rest.

It switches over, I tested it. I will grab screen shots if anyone wishes.

Yeah, that's a great confirmation, thanks In some ways I feel sad when they make them change during the switch, rather than use a different id number for the new version, because some people are very attached to their old pets and may not like them suddenly appearing very different. But this guy does look pretty cool

As long as the old skin can be retamed easily enough from somewhere, I don't see it as a huge deal - the replacement will auto-level to hunter lvl -3 and the shortfall can be made up in a couple random 5 mans.

*nods to Wain* Agreed; people should have the option to keep the pet they originally tamed. I'm only happy in this case because I went into it knowingly. *pets Soup* And couldn't wait. xD
