On my way to Outland I went to check on the rare spawn Spiteflayer in the Blasted Lands. Some time ago I left a suggestion he could be differentiated from the green ones around him by being made blue or yellow (both unused skins). Well, he's now yellow and quite striking! The skin is called CarrionBirdSkinOutlandYellow, which to my knowledge has never been seen in the game before.
In Outland I went to check on the Angered Arakkoa Protectors again. For those of you who don't know, these are summoned birds in BEM. If you go to an Arakkoa village in BEM and attack certain of the arakkoa (usually the melee ones it seems), when they dip below certain health they'll run to a rune circle and summon a protector (you're better off starting in the rune circle and just pulling them). The trick is not killing the summoner before it has a chance to summon. I tamed my one at Veil Ruuan. These birds have always been flagged as tameable, but attempting to do so gave a "creature is already controlled" error. It looks like it's finally fixed (and hopefully means other mobs with that error are also now tameable!) The skin is called CarrionBirdSkinOutlandBlue, which has never been available before. However, he also has a ghostly appearance, even after taming, so he's not strictly just the blue skin, but a transparent version of it.
The odd thing about this guy is he's classed as a bird of prey. All other two-headed vultures, including Spiteflayer above, are classed as carrion birds. I'll report the inconsistency as a potential bug.

Unchanged in Outland:
Phase-Hunter (Arcatraz) still not tameable.
Void Hounds (multi-eyed demonic core hound like things) still demons.
Mana worms and basilisks not tameable.
No sign of red warp stalkers
Fen striders not tameable.
Talbuks, elekks, clefthoofs not tameable.

Oh goodness! That's a lovely change for Spiteflayer and a wonderful idea!

And EEEEE about the blue ones!!! I hope hope HOPE for everyone who's after the tameable-but-controlled pets that they're all fixed. Tito??? The red beetles??? Maybe even those birds in ICC 25!

Oh. Oh, my. The ghostly blue is unbelievably gorgeous. ;_; I cannot wait to tame you, my beauty. Fantastic finds, both of them!

Yay! Looks like I'll be making some alterations to my Cata must-have pet list.
Ever since I saw the yellow outland skin in model viewer, I've wanted to tame it. =)


Now I only hope we'll see the white and yellow normal vulture skin get used.
I love how much it looks like an Egyptian Vulture from real life.

The red beetles in EPL aren't fixed. I just checked.

Well, I think I will be keeping my white and black two headed vulture, but these ones are definitely beautiful. It's lovely to see that Blizzard is putting so many previously unused models in game! Congrats to everyone who has been wanting one

As those birds are nice Thingimajig will be staying as a basic black buzzard for now at least.

Um they are 2 headed carrion birds O.o

One of them is a Bird of Prey (the blue one).

The other is a normal Carrion Bird (though in a never-before-seen color).

That yellow version is sweet...

Too many new skins to tame...

I decided to uh jump the gun and get him before he switched colors. Now if only he agreed to spawn and it looks like they changed his level to.

So... one of my hunters will have him, and the other one the blue now. Now its all about who gets him first
