Movie quotes/speeches that always make you teary

For me, it's the one that Valerie wrote on toilet paper in V from Vendetta.

"I hope, that whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope the world turns and things get better. But what I hope for most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you...I love you. With all my heart, I. Love. You."

T^T

Thats one of my fav ones as well, I cant quite put my finger on the quote but in the movie "My Sisters Keeper" the younger sister tells the mother that her older sister wants to die and cant hold on anymore.. That makes all teary eyed too ><

It is so freaking sad, because the younger girl had..well I wont spoil it but..the basic plot of the movie ties into her telling her mother that and at the end the older sister dying of cancer.. And I bawled my eyes out T_T

I'm a pretty emotional person so there's quite a few scenes/quotes in movies and TV that make me cry.
One that comes to mind though is from Apocalypto. It's from the scene where everyone is gathered around the fire listening to a story.
It's a fairly long quote but the message succeeds in making me misty-eyed just about every time.

Video of the storyteller scene on youtube -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1hnHwFiUwA
“And a Man sat alone, drenched deep in sadness. And all the animals drew near to him and said, "We do not like to see you so sad. Ask us for whatever you wish and you shall have it." The Man said, "I want to have good sight." The vulture replied, "You shall have mine." The Man said, "I want to be strong." The jaguar said, "You shall be strong like me." Then the Man said, "I long to know the secrets of the earth." The serpent replied, "I will show them to you." And so it went with all the animals. And when the Man had all the gifts that they could give, he left. Then the owl said to the other animals, "Now the Man knows much, he'll be able to do many things. Suddenly I am afraid." The deer said, "The Man has all that he needs. Now his sadness will stop." But the owl replied, "No. I saw a hole in the Man, deep like a hunger he will never fill. It is what makes him sad and what makes him want. He will go on taking and taking, until one day the World will say, 'I am no more and I have nothing left to give.'"

:(

As a side note, are you in Oxfordshire?

Our local radio station (Jack fm) had a segment as I was driving to work this morning about looking up the saddest parts of movies.

For me, the one that makes me cry every time is the very end of American History X, when Edward Furlong... well.

The shirt in Brokeback Mountain

But if you like movies that bring you down, watch anything by Mike Leigh :D

I dunnop why but the end of Harry Potter, part one...
When he hugs Hagrid and says: "I'm not going home. Not really."

Geez! I'm getting old...

And as a sidenote:
Do you guys remeber the movie E.T.?

Noone ever cried when the little fellow died.
But tears were flowing when he went back home.

Weird, isn't it?

Spock's last words were:
"I have been and always shall be... your friend. Live long and prosper."
To which Jim simply said:
"No."

Always makes me cry. Even moreso, when I know what happens later:
He stole the Enterprise and then blew it up, convinced others to join his mutiny, engaged in piracy, kidnapping and was prepaired to face Court Marshal, just to get his Spock back.
Hooray for science fiction! :D

"It's a hell of a thing to kill a man - you take away everything he's got, and everything he's ever going to have."

Mockingbird wrote:"It's a hell of a thing to kill a man - you take away everything he's got, and everything he's ever going to have."
Said by William Munny, a known thief and murderer, a man of notoriously vicious and intemperate disposition.
I love this movie so much.

It's not exactly a quote, and it might be kind of silly, considering it's a cartoon, but to this day I can't watch the original The Land Before Time without bursting into tears when Littlefoot's mother dies. :(

Cowboy Bebop has the best ending in the world. I felt like crap, but looking back at it, its still amazing.

Oooooooooh my god, the entire episode of Jupiter Jazz with Gren. I sobbed like a child. And then every time I see it, I turn into a waterfall. I adored Gren, and I always felt so so so so so so SO bad for him.

The worst part is at the very end, with the old Indian chief and his son...

Kid: A star just fell from the sky.
Laughing Bull: That is not an ordinary star, my son. That star is the tear of a warrior.
Kid: What warrior is it?
Laughing Bull: A lost soul who has finished his battles somewhere on this planet. A pitiful soul who could not find his way to the lofty realm where the great spirit awaits us all.

Yup, cried when he went home... BUT

when Elliot says "E.T., I love you" when we thought he was dead.... I was bawling. I still tend to tear up, even knowing he's not really dead.

There was a moment towards the end of Avatar: The Last Airbender that had both my husband and I sobbing...
When Iroh tells Zuko that he never hated him, and that he loves him.

I don't know why I am a fool for people being honest about love.

In Airbender, I was almost hoping to find out that Iroh was Zuko's real father.

P.S. I always had a great relationship with my dad. He was a very demonstrative and affectionate father. So I can't figure out why I have this affinity for scenes that involve men admitting their (non sexual) love for each other. Something about how western society prizes the stoic, unemotional man above all else?

I do wish I had had the chance to tell my dad how much I loved him and how great he was. The last words I heard from him were "these income taxes are gonna kill me!" then his wonderful laugh. The next morning he had a stroke, and died a few hours later.

God I miss him

K only a few of you will understand why, but this quote almost always gets me :P

"Don't screw around with me Maverick. You're a hell of an instinctive pilot. Maybe too good. I'd like to bust your butt but I can't. I got another problem here. I gotta send somebody from this squadron to Miramar. I gotta do something here, I still can't believe it. I gotta give you your dream shot!"

What Film (without using google! :)) ???
