Keep My Girl In Your Thoughts (A Happier Ending)

I dont come here asking for sympathy or for pity; I only come asking for your thoughts and prayers.. My girl is 14 shes an old dog who I've had since a child - She went to the vet today after we noticed last night she was breathing heavy. He checked her out and she goes in for xrays in the morning; he told us she could either have phnemonia(best case scenario) - A minor heart condition which can be treated with medication and allow her to live comfortably(what hes leaning towards) or worst case scenario cancer/a tumor. I'm very worried about her and ask you to keep her in your thoughts she is my first pet; and I adore her. Right now shes sleeping on my bed; having been given some antibiotics by the vet. I just really dont want to lose her.. :(

Poor thing. She'll be n my thoughts. Best advice I can give is "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst."

Both of you are in my thoughts and I hope that the vet will be able to help her and that you can have her home and well with you soon!!!

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, sadly my darling drew her last breath today. She had cancer and we were unaware; the vet told us it had spread quickly and was impossible to detect before hand. She had been herself always playful and happy. We had three options; let it go and she would live for a few days; get her medicine where she would live painfully for a few more weeks; or do chemo which would provide a few more months of life but with pain and terrible quality. We decided to spare her pain and suffering; Rest in Peace Nellie my little angel, you finally earned your wings.

Sorry to hear that she's gone. :(

But it sounds like you had many wonderful years together. Cherish those memories. She'll always be in your heart.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss... losing a pet is like having a piece of yourself forcibly removed - as an animal lover I've always felt we never get to have our pets around nearly long enough. :(

But you did the right thing by your girl - it takes strength to make that choice.

God keep her.

I'm so sorry, hun. You did the right thing though. Now her spirit is free to play as she once did without the weight of a broken, dying body.

Thank you all, it means a lot to me, it's a rough thing to go through - it's just tough knowing she won't be there when I get home anymore, and she won't be there to be the little diva that she was, to beg me for treats. Smartest dog I've ever met - I believe we are having her cremated though I'm not sure at this point. I feel so terrible for our other dog as well, they were like sisters and being without her is driving the other insane. She has separation anxiety and can't be by herself, yet with another dog she's fine. While it may seem rushing it I believe we have made plans to adopt a puppy sometime in the next two weeks, to ease our grieving process and to help our other dog cope as well.

I'm so sorry.
Much love for doing right by your best friend and not letting her hurt.
A puppy would be just the thing to keep you all distracted. :)

I am so sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is to lose a pet that is closer than family, but you did right by her. She is not in pain anymore and is off in a better place now, running around and having a grand old time. Accepting a new member to your family in need of a wonderful home sounds like it will do you and yours good, plus I can think of no better eulogy for a beloved pet than passing on their loving home and family to another pet in need. Our thoughts are with you hun.

I feel so sorry for you. :( I lost my first dog after only 2 and a half years.
My dog is now 7 years old, can't image a world without her

You had your best friend with you for a long time.
Try to see thoose parts instead of "she is gone", it's ***** hard i know, but it helps.
You saved her from suffer and pain, and now she is peaceful and a happy dog, playing along in heaven.

Though my baby is gone I have recently taken a 10 month old pup into my home. Shes my girl all ready and follows me everywhere - shes crate-trained and were working on getting her potty trained better. We were told shes aussie shepherd mix for sure but they speculated boxer as her other half; we are having our doubts however  - she seems very saintish to me. She has the eyes of one, a similar muzzle, and when she barks she sounds just like one. What really sold her to us was her name..it seemed mean to be - so meet Mellie <3
