Maybe I'm sour grapes but... does this irk the heck out of anyone like it does me D: Everytime I read something on forums (wowhead, thottbot, wow forums) about mounts, there's always that 'I got it on my first run!' post.

Seriously. My day half comprises of killing things for mounts. Anzu, ZG, Attumen, Occulas, Stupid Moorabi for the last meta achievement.... I mean the list goes on. Sure, I have the 100 mounts achievement, but any collector will tell you. It's more than that.

It's like Pokemon. Gotta catch 'em all DX

So who here is NOT a lucky duck and is on their hundreth ZG run hoping for a raptor or Tiger? Or even just the raven lord?

And for my own amusement, how many of you hardcore collectors are taking up Alchemy for the new mount? XD

I think it's a matter of just how badly you want it.

Case in point: I'm still trying to get stupid Baron's stupid bony pony for my night elf. I think he knows it because he never bothers to drop it for me when I do a run. CURSE HIIIIM.

However, the first random run of Occulus I did, I was just trying to, y'know, finish Occulus, 'cause I'd never done it before, and the blue drake dropped in my bag. I didn't even know there was a mount dropped there, or that it was rare, until afterwards when I looked it up.

So the answer is, go into these instances for something else! Say you're building rep, or trying to get some other rare item, or looking for a neato pet. While you're looking in the opposite direction they won't be stingy with their mounts and might drop one for you!

(Or that's the theory anyway).

I'm currently on Run 60 for the Baron's Deathcharger. I run ZG here and again, mostly for the Tiger. The other mounts aren't on a "must have!" desire at the moment, but I'm open to getting them at some point.

I do agree with being irked with the people who boast about getting it on the first try. Congrats to them, no doubt, but there's a line that's crossed when it becomes thrown in your face that you don't have it yet.

It's the same thing with me and Spirit Beasts. NEVER got one, but not for lack of trying. I'm not going to camp for one, and yet, never complain that I'm without.

lol I tried that actually. Unfortunately for me, I'm just about exalted with every grindable rep faction that contains a mount, I have all the fun minipets and trinkets that drop throughout the instances...

Hmmm I suppose the only thing I could still run for is maybe justice points, but I'm halfways to capping that too. XD

I think the Baron's Horse has a restraining order on me I've tried to get it so many times :/

QFT. Whenever I hava something rare and awesome drop, it's the ONE time I wasn't hoping it would drop. The single moment when I would forget about what I was after, it would be there, as if rewarding me for not forcing it. The same thing works with everything - I've farmed all the whelpling pets myself, some of them multiple times. The black one took the longest time, as I got way too accustomed to expecting the pet to drop, I simply couldn't forget about it.

Long story short, best bet seems to be to simply forget about what you want. While it's extremely hard, it usually pays off.

I never ever get anything "on the first run", but I ALWAYS SEE IT DROP. ALWAYS. I saw the Baron's pony on my first run. Didn't win it until my 167th run. Saw the ZG tiger on my first run. Didn't get one until 3 years later.

I am not gonna go on, cause I'm foaming at the mouth in rage as it is. I'm goin to write a nice note to Blizzard to please reset my horrible rng chances. >_<'

Let's see... I don't think I've ever managed to get a mount my first run.
Deathcharger - 88 runs and counting
ZG tiger - roughly 45 runs and counting
Anzu - I think around 23 runs and counting
White Hawkstrider - don't know, don't want to think about it :/

The mounts I have managed to get:
ZG Raptor - 30th run of the place
Bronze Drake - 5th run thanks to a pre-made drake run group
Blue Drake - 7th run. That whole run I had to put up with a foul-mouthed priest healer that wouldn't get off my back for not using my wolf whenever we were fighting on the ground
(I think it was WoW rewarding me for my patience and tolerance in the face of bold rudeness. Funny thing is, he left before we had even looted the boss so he didn't get a bag for himself.)



As for the alch mount, my new rogue is going to take that up once Cata rolls around.

I spend 1 hour a day fishing for that damned Turtle mount, and still don't have it.

Oh, and the mammoth. It's dropped three times IN A ROW for me out of three runs. BUT I always loose the roll.

Urg, yeah. One of my first mount hunts was Rivendare. When I was about maybe, 100 kills, a guildie told me he got it in 3 runs. I was like, "DO YOU THINK I CARE?!" Didn't say it of course, but I didn't appreciate them rubbing it in my face. Took me 157 runs of Rivendare to get it. :/ I was lucky with the Grand War Mammoth (from VoA,) I didn't even know it EXISTED. I almost missed out on the roll, actually. I thought it was the one you bought with the Shards. XD I recently got the ZG raptor as well. I'm really hoping they put those two back in some other way, for I don't think I'll be getting the Tiger any time soon. I've wanted the Tiger since Classic. :[ Anzu and Midnight are my next ones to go after in Cata. Especially since Anzu is easier to do than before. (No trash! Yey.)

As for Alchemy, my main mount hunter is already an alchemist. It would only better better for mounts if she were a pally that was Engin/Tailor.. XD;; Oh well. Druid Dragon Form, Go!

248 baron runs for the Deathcharger here (Since statistics page was employed anyway, did a couple of runs before but nothing very significant.)

Man... did my last ZG run last night before (what I will assume is on Tuesday) the Shattering. No mount

I'm so bummed. I really hope these guys return soon. Been doing these runs for years and no mount (curse you RNG), not even a drop of either

does anyone kno if anzu is being removed? or is the bird mount staying with us?

As for the Baron... on my druid, since level 70 2423 runs. No joke, I won't even go back with my hunter to try for it cause I am forever sickened by that place. The only good that came out of it was my druid being an enchanter and made 21k gold by selling enchanting mats alone.
