The Volley Replacement?

Okay guys, need the help of the more experienced raiders and hunters here :)

I noticed this yesterday when I ran my first dungeon since the patch. I knew we weren't gonna have volley anymore, but I was a bit stumped on what I was supposed to do during the packs of mobs. Normally, I used to throw a misdirect onto the tank, then hit volley 1-2 times until their health was lower before single-targeting one while occasionally using Multishot when it was up.

Can't do that now, though. In this run I just single-targeted whatever the tank was focusing on at the time and had my pet focus on that mob, too. I'd use Multishot when I could, but mostly it was just burning down one mob at a time.

Furthermore I was thinking of doing another Baron run earlier, and realized....again...I don't know what to do about those packs of mobs in the first half of Strathholme, since I have no volley anymore. Again, I would just MD my pet and sic him in, then spam volley while he had their attention, but that's not happening anymore.

Is there something else we should be doing for multi-mob encounters? I'm not very innovative when it comes to learning a class, so any input is appreciated :)

They changed the way Multi-shot works. It is now the replacement for volley, so give that a whack. :)

also, trap launcher + explosive trap.

also note that glyphed right, misdirect can be up on your pet nearly permanently.

If there's time (i.e. mobs don't die too fast) I toss in an explosive trap. As for the most efficient BM strat for trash packs, your best bet is BW-> arcane shot spam. That'll get you the best dps per focus.

In non-group situations (like soloing Stratholme for the Baron's mount) I do use MD to pet -> multishot, simply because things die fast enough that my focus regen can keep up. If you don't care about the loot, I'd even suggest sending in your worm (if that's what you're using) to pull a ton of mobs and then burrow. They'll die FAST and that's the main point if you're not looting, right? :) Just remember to have mend pet ticking.

In dungeon runs I've changed from mindless AoE to single targeting trash mobs. I have no problems with it, the other classes in the group can throw their AoE in there (as others said you could always toss an Explosive Trap if needed). I don't even bother using Multishot as BM...the damage is rather pitiful.

And yes, for solo-runs I'd highly recommend a Worm with burrow. :D

Yeah, that's why I specified what I do in BM. I haven't used the other two specs yet, so I'm really not sure (aside from what I've read). SV and MM do seem strong with multishot. :)

Thanks for the input guys. Trap launcher...I keep forgetting I have that now XP I'll keep the other tactics in mind too.

(And yes I am BM, probably shoulda mentioned that).

As for Stratholme Baron runs, I'll keep the worm suggestion in mind. I used to loot them all the time when I was building Argent rep, but the only real need to do it now is for runecloth, which really isn't necessary anymore. So I'll have to go tame a worm :)
