Just an FYI Fellow Hunters...

I hopped on the test server tonight (Nov 14), and on a whim went to tame .. The Beast!

I succeeded.

BUT... there is a change on the test server.

The Beast NO LONGER KEEPS THE BOSS INFO ICON!

When tamed he shows as a regular, lvl 77 Core Hound.

No idea if they are going to make this change retro to existing tamed, but I suggest if you want him, get him before the next update.

We can hope they grandfather in the existing tamed ones, but we can't count on that.

Way back in September he was discovered this way.

A friend of mine on live server went in to tame him yesterday and found out he didn't have his boss tag. I immediately pulled out DaBeast to check him out he still had his boss tag. I don't know if that means they changed his ID or not but I breathed a sigh of relief.

He's not going to keep his boss tag because he'll no longer be a raid boss (and no, present tames won't be grandfathered as of right now - transfers to beta show that you'll lose the boss tag on your tamed Beast). If you want a corehound with a boss tag, Magmadar will be tameable and have the boss tag. All the information about both core hounds is available here, on the Cataclysm sub-forums.

I don't think you understood me properly, the level of the Beast on the live server changed and my friend could not get one with the boss tag. We then decided to check mine out to see if they had removed it from mine. He still had his. Brand new tames on live server do not have the tag. So far those that already had it still have it.

I am expecting that part to change with the next patch.

My point originally was we already knew that though.

But if what Zarola says is true they may have given the new Beast an NPC ID change.

I'm headed to UBRS right now to see if I can get to him and solo tame him to check this.

In other words, have grandfathered the boss tag. Hm. We'll see what you find Veph, but if they did change the ID for him, that's a strong indication that those who already tamed him before the last patch get to keep their ???

I have The Beast tamed from a long time ago. He still has his Boss tag today.

I just went through UBRS by myself. I targetted The Beast and he still appeared as a level ?? Boss. I tamed him again right now and even after taming he still has his Boss tags. No ID change, but I'm sure he'll still lose them in Cataclysm.

Damnit.....I was hoping though.... /cry

I don't know why his got screwed up then. I was hoping very hard though.
