Baby chin's adventure and subsequent name~

I have a couple of chinchillas which have bred in the past, and their babies have always been pretty laid back and well-behaved, so when Raichu (the mother chin) had her most recent baby, I assumed he would be a little sweetie as well.

BOY WAS I WRONG.

Something to note about chinchillas is that they're born fully furred and are capable of running around and exploring literally hours after birth, and on his second day of life, our newest baby chin managed to escape from the cage. Thankfully I found him hiding underneath it. I carefully checked every nook and cranny within the cage and patched up any spots where he could have conceivably squeezed through, then put him back in with his mommy.

Well, by the next day he had miraculously gotten out again, and this time he was nowhere to be found. My husband and I were frantic. We searched everywhere, and finally reasoned that he must have squeezed between the floor and bottom of the cabinets in our kitchen - an area that we had literally no way to get to. My hubby was about to tear the cabinets apart when he heard rustling in the corner...

Apparently the baby had managed to hop into the chinchilla's bath house (I had left it sitting outside of their cage to be cleaned). Standing on its end, the bath house is about a foot and 1/2 tall, so I have no idea how the baby got up there, but he managed it somehow. We were so relieved.

Because of his knack for adventure, we decided to name the baby Finn, after the character from Adventure Time. I have never encountered a creature so tiny and full of mischief. Suffice to say, we have the chin cage rigged so that, barring teleportation, there is no way whatsoever Finn could possibly squeeze out, the little bastard. >.<

This isn't Finn specifically, but I thought I'd include a pic of a newborn chinchilla just to convey how mind-numbingly cute these guys are:

*cough* Have to get this out of the way...

D'awwwwwwww!!!!

On a side note, when I read the title for this thread I had horrifying thoughts of a baby Varian Wrynn walking around with his enormous chin. I'm relieved to find otherwise.

Hehe Veph... I lost it when I read the fine text. xD
I guess the title can be pretty misleading, eh?

You should illustrate that horrifying image, imo. >:D

Teeeechnical necro, but when I saw the image of baby Varian, I drew a quick, poorly done, thiry second baby Varian for you all.

This is what happens when I have too much free time. I draw these horrors. D:

LMFAO!

I'm glad you didn't name him Varian. Although really, if Finn took after Varian, he wouldn't be able to sneak everywhere, since his chin would get caught on things.

That's one precocious little fellow! Has he still been a troublemaker now that he's a little older?
