Hiya peoples, after talking with Mania, she gave me permission to post a forum topic to get some ideas.

I would like to entertain ideas for a new Forum Contest. If anyone did the Haiku thingy, I was thinking something like that (not poems though). I was thinking maybe having a new RANK in the color Orange, or Pink, or something else that hasn't been used yet would go to the winner(s).

Mania said she wanted to do another one, its just that CATA has kept her a "little" busy. This contest I don't think would happen still for a couple months, but if anyone has any ideas feel free to post them.

One idea I thought of is funny real life picture contest that somehow relates to WOW, IE *someone dressed as a "NINJA" that is "CAMPING" by something.. etc etc. I don't think its a terribly great idea, but perhaps someone more creative knows something better.

How about a creative drawing contest? It wouldn't be the quality of the finished drawing, but the creativity of it that counts.

-Drawing is okayish.
-Uhm...Jokes. WoW jokes. Yes. Make your own racial jokes.
-Captioning. Someone takes a picture and we all try a hand at a caption. (I always failed these on Neopets. It made me so disappointed.)
-Comics?
-Creative writing. Everyone is given the same starter sentence, and bam. Start writing.
-Screenshot contest?

All I got. As for colors, what about a dark green? Brighter red? Gold?

Indigo. Definitely.

Hmmm...Coordinating pet/hunter outfits?

I like the idea of a comic contest.
It means a lot of people don't have to feel excluded if they can't draw as well as some others, as the focus is on the narative. That and you could always just use game models for it.

I think gold or yellow would be a good colour for the Names. It's one that isn't used at all yet by any usergroups.

I'd rather not a drawing contest because while some are artistically gifted....majority are...well....not. Like me.

A screenshot contest would be more up my alley.

I love Azu's idea of a creative writing contest. I'd also definitely be open for a screen cap contest, but with criteria (i.e., not just "show us a pretty picture") and the racial joke one would definitely be entertaining.

From what ive seen so far maybe something like:

A creative drawing AND a creative screenshot contest...
THEN a funny caption contest afterwards on those screenshots?
Then there could be a contest for the participation of those contests, then perhaps another contest on the quality of the contests, then another contest......

Still would involve talent, which I lack. Plus having scanner and all that. Too much fuss and very limited to who can participate. The screencap contest is a better solution cause everyone can participate and talent isnt really needed.

Why would you need skill? You could draw stickfigures for all I care, the stuff you would win with would be CREATIVITY, not the graphical quality. And why would you use a scanner? Just download gimp and doodle something up. It's significantly harder to be creative in a screencap contest, whereas anyone can depict anything in a picture.

like theres alot of stick figure art out there that i love <3 like that nilesyrawr guy on youtube just does random stick figure pictures on paint but i bloodly love em
like just go on any art site and type 'stick figure'
its never teh visual graphics people fall in love with ... like graphical wise i wouldnt be playing wow cas its to 'chunky' compared to most pc and console games

Okay. Let's make a compromise, because it will only lead to more arguing. Neither. Creative writing, or captioning a screeny provided by contest giver, or more elaborate poetry than haikus. (Not that they aren't elaborate, but-you know what? nevermind. >.>)

Or taking an existing model and having a, "What would your dream skin for X model be?"

What of those who cant handle GIMP? Not everyone here has a good running computer. Some here have a computer that barely runs WoW, I'm sure. So I'm suggesting something that everyone can participate in rather than only a handful.

I love that idea. Maybe have it WOW or HUNTER or PET themed to go in with the forum and whatnot?
