Am I going to need a new wolf?

Apologies if this was answered somewhere else already, I'm new here I wasn't able to find anything mentioning it specifically when I was poking around in the recent threads.

The wolf I currently use is a Vargul Blighthound. I noticed that this NPC is apparently being changed to a Vargul Plaguehound, which is a dog rather than a wolf. What is going to happen to existing tamed Blighthounds when the patch changes the NPC to the Plaguehound? I'm hoping that they will still be wolves and still use the same model, but I'm worried that the model will either end up changing or they'll change pet families.

Your Blighthound will change from 'Wolf" to "Dog". It happens to all Blighthounds, regardless of being tamed before or after the patch. If you are wanting a wolf-family pet, you will need to tame a new pet :(

Ypu. You'll need a new one cause the Blighthounds will be Dogs, not wolves.

Not as it is now, but I'm still concerned they will a few patches later. :(

Thank god! i love my ghost wolf:< but i alrdy have 3 Spirit beasts, so the chances of it being used when it becomes one is rather slim=(

Blah, I was afraid that was going to be the answer. I'm pretty disappointed, because that was the one and only wolf model that I didn't hate (no offense to people who like the other ones >_>) and the dog family is pretty useless from a raid buff standpoint.

Regardless, thanks for clearing that up for me!

Not really. i love its buff. I liked it a lot in beta. :3 It's not the most useful but it came in handy on occasion.

It's not a buff dear it's a snare :p

Really? I was sure that snares/slows would be an additional boon to a raid [seeing as most raids would be maxed out, if 25] and even in a 10 man raid, chances are most of the major buffs would already be covered.

Also from someone with a fury warrior, it would save a bit of heartbreak too, wolves somehow now fuck up with the rampage buff and can overwrite it/cause it to basically null in void until the wolf refreshes the howl :/

Er...snare. whatever. It's ability is still pretty neat. If you can make a mob stay put, the raid loves you. XD

It's not a snare, it's a root. :P

But yes, roots are very nice for runners on certain fights. :)

It's not a root, it's a branch.

I was under the impression that Cats were better for DPS than Wolves, now. I know my Hunter and my DK both love the +Agi +Str buff.

Wars and DK's also supply it. It's best if the group/raid has one and is ACTIVELY USING SHOUT OR HORN to be polite and put the pet away; as the pet interceedes if higher level [atleast while leveling so maybe less raids and more pugs] and the war or DK is unable to shout-> ergo unable to get up a short burst of rage. So you could be hurting more than helping. And also vice versa is true if a war/DK are higher than your cat, your cat is mute.

Wolves provite a +crit buff, which isn't so bad. It's 5%. It's always 5%, so if the shout is being provided, you can switch to a wolf.

Does Honor Among Thieves cancel out the pet +crit buffs since it's constantly being applied and gives a benefit to the Rogue that the pet's crit doesn't? I'd hate to use a Crit buff pet and cancel out HaT since it benefits Rogues a lot more.

Increases the critical hit chance of all party and raid members by 5%. When any player in your party or raid critically hits with a ranged or melee ability, you have a 100% chance to gain a combo point on your current target. This effect cannot occur more than once every 2 seconds.

It depends; I was able to say for certain that a wolf would never how while Rashika was fury and in a group; but now they can and do and my own talent seems to be bugged. So idk. I've seen imps overwriting my +Stam buff, so.. they might at times on certain players. It depends really.

Buggy system ftl.

In theory, it shouldn't override HaT, regardless of which buff is displayed. After all, we're not the only other class with the buff, and they can't turn theirs off like we can. This should definitely be tested to make sure, though.
