You need the quest A Different Approach http://cata.wowhead.com/quest=26954. After you use the druid to pull them down it is as easy as pressing the Tame Beast key.

Here's a little more info:
-The Diseased Hawks are level 37-38 and are classified as Birds of Prey.
-The quest is available to both alliance and horde.
-The quest hub is called The Menders' Stead, which is in the middle of the new Western Plaguelands. The questgiver is a tauren woman named Adrine Towhide. She will first give you the quest Zen'Kiki, the Druid. Zen'Kiki is a troll druid (who's having some trouble shapeshifting) who will follow you around during these quests. For this first quest, you'll simply need to kill 20 beasts in the area with him following you.
- The followup, A Different Approach takes you and your troll druid buddy to a hill just to the east of the quest hub. You'll see the birds above you on beast tracking.
- You'll need to target one of the birds flying above you and right-click Zen'Kiki to get him to attack it. The bird will drop down to you at full health, ready to be tamed.
- You CAN call a bird down for someone else, provided that they can obtain aggro on the bird without killing said bird. Aggro drops are great for this.

What an amazing find! I hope that the ones in Northrend get fixed too.

thnx for the info, sweet looking bird. might get one if i can clear an extra stable slot, only have 2 open slots on live atm.

I will not be completing this quest in case this is the only instance of this bird being tameable.

Hopefully if this is a goof-up on Blizzard's part they won't fix it til after a few of us gets one as a pet.

I doubt it is a goof up; look at the plagued swine/undead boars/whatever, we're able to tame them and by rights they should be zombies/undead. This is probably intended. Though what I do wish is they'd make it where you could aggro the birds without the troll.

I'm pretty sure it's deliberate. I wouldn't worry too much.

If they add a tameable skeletal windserpent I will seriously consider racechanging my hunter to undead.

Oooh, just thought of a few questions. Waht level are these undead hawks? And what pet family are they in?

wowhead shows them as bird of prey, and minimum level to get the quest is lvl 35.

Well, that's one "dead pet" I've said I actually wanted. Bone raptors would be fun too. This is pretty cool!
