While no unique looks of pets are being lost in the Cataclysm (in fact, just the opposite!), certain beasts will be disappearing from Azeroth, presumably forever. Who are you saving?

It seems like a lot of my pets are disappearing. I hadn't realized...

Kalypso is a white Reef Crawler from Darkshore.
Kallisto, who began life as a purple hyena from Thousand Needles, is a Starving Blisterpaw from Tanaris. And here I'd been feeling guilty that she'd no longer be a rescue...
I have half a mind to trek Babykalli back to Dun Morogh to retame Bobo the Young Black Bear before the patch, but without the ability to graveyard hop, I may have to truly let him go. :/ Knowing me, I will be running out there in a few... Bobo is safe.
I already have Indy (Timber) and ColonD (one of the "Silithid" green scorpids; unsure if I managed to grab one that won't be changing) on her.
Scarlet (Azzere) is on Yoninah.

The killer for me is that Ursa, my baby, is a Grizzled Black Bear from Loch Modan. I'm taking him to visit his younger counterpart right now. Well, after a brief detour. Apparently, the Large Loch Crocolisk wants me to tame her before her transformation...I've never seen her before.

I hold out hope that Chatter will regain his identity, so Orpheus isn't on this list.

Wasnt Araga going extinct? I didnt see her listed there but I never saw anyone find her either.

Mania has a list up of unconfirmed missing rares that she's still filling out. Most of the pets on this list are non-rares.

Thank you for reminding me, I was going to go tame a Durotar Tiger for nostalgia and since they'll be disappearing. ^^ My durotar tiger was my orc hunter's first pet; I was so excited to tame one that I went and got it before I could feed it and then had to ruuuuuuun to orgrimmar, terrified that it would run away on me. I abandoned it in favor of the Rake when I read about its pursuit speed problems.

I did rescue a purple Scorpid before I released it due to the tail bounce annoying the heck out of me... Saved Timber (Avalanche), Sparkleshell Tortoise and Elder Cloud Serpent which I grabbed ealier, Sithilid Swarmer for obvious reasons, Starving Winter Wolf (Garmr), Azzere (Hakea) who as far as I know is still awol and Mottled Worg (Vaithne). How wierd a lot of the extincts are on my alt of white pets.

I have an Elder Cloud Serpent (but I suspect I will be releasing it into the wild to be replaced by the blue dragonhawk) and Timber at the moment. I also have a Swarmer (in the hopes it'll stay an ant-silithid model of course) and have been considering releasing my present Suresh (who was a Coilskar Cobra) and instead taming one of the whites either in Zul'farrak or Wailing Caverns (he was originally a Wailing Caverns snakey). I considered Vile Sting, but I sadly would never use scorpids, and my stable's already looking to be full enough as it is!

So far, I have Azzere The Skyblade.

I saved Timber..and I kept his name Timber..I <3 him

The only ones I saved are, outside of the Silithid Swarmers;

from Zul'gurub or whatever on Rosalyn my orc; a Tiger, Raptor, a Soulflayer and Son of Hakkar. Only the latter two have been named yet.

I'm keeping a Soulflayer from ZG because it was my faithful BC companion. My vanilla account hunter has Azzere but she may be retiring and I can't find Azzy on Illidan.

Picking up the Swarmer for nothing else than to see what they do with it.

Other than Soulflayer though, any pets of sentimental levelling value for me seem to be hanging around.

I decided I just had to find Azzere. My first ever windserpent pet was a Thunderhawk Hatchling from the Barrens.

I later released her, but I still love windserpents. I have the rare Arash-ethis, but it's not the same.

I decided that Azzere is my little hatchling all grown up and with mature coloring now.

I think I'm going to go rescue Olm.

Olm now rescued, not on the Hunter I was going to but hey he's safe with meeee.

I've been hoping to find Vile Sting for the past few days now, but so far no luck. :( Hopefully the EU patch won't hit until Wednesday, so I'll still have tomorrow to camp for him.

Subira has Olm, Soulflayer and one of the dark Serpents from Zul'Gurub.
Atalfon has the aqua Scorpid.
While not exactly becoming extinct, my main has the Silithid Ravager all tucked up in her stables.

Vile sting is actually safe. Saw him on the ptr.

I've rescued ZG animals; Soul Flayers, Sons of Hakkars, and Zulian Tigers across two hunters.

I also nabbed Azzere, even though her skin is a "repeat".

I was unsure of Cranky Benj, so I grabbed him too when a guildmate saw him paddling around in his lake.

I don't really have any on Veph, but I have a few on my troll hunter, Gazini. I also went and tamed some last minute today just so I have them *somewhere*. x)
