There's a bit of confusion going on at the moment regarding Gilneas.

Gilneas, the phased starting area where the worgen will level, will NOT be available in 4.0.3a.
The Ruins of Gilneas, the unphased version of Gilneas that can be found in the southwestern corner of Silverpine Forest, WILL be available in 4.0.3a.

That means the following pets WILL be available in 4.0.3a:


Highlands Fox


Gilnean Hound

Very odd. Must be just to allow the pets be available.

I love the unphased version of Gilneas. It's like an empty dollhouse that you can play in. Really awesome atmosphere and scenery. I don't think there's any aggressive mobs within the city either...would make a great stage for a guild event.

The whole area is MASSIVE. Plenty of room for hide 'n seek. Nice atmosphere too. It's kind of like the unphased DK starter area, only there's actually the handful of beasts in it instead of it being an empty shell.

are we completely SURE?

it may be present, but will it actually be accessible without the expansion? it is still technically a new zone, people still without BC still can't access ghostlands from the plaguelands afterall...

I walked right in. all the other "no no" spaces on the ptr kick you out. (so i hear)

I tamed pets in there on the PTR. It will be open.

Not only that.. I foresee a lot RPers/RP guilds flocking there as well. In fact, just the other night I saw quite a few people doing just that on the current PTRs.
I'm not much into it, myself (maybe once in a long while) but I can certainly see the appeal for role play within the zone.
