(Temporary) Ghost Wolf Tamed--Info

(UPDATE: If the wolf dies, it *loses* the buff--so if you manage to duplicate this, keep it as a show pet only!)
EDIT: HERE IS HOW TO REPEAT THIS TAME CONSISTENTLY.
I have no idea what just happened...
I've been trapping and taming Ashenvale's Ghostpaw Runners attempting to get a Ghost Wolf. Trying to time it so freeze breaks, explosive damages, wolf tames.
Well, it wasn't working, 40+ wolves later.
I abandoned a wolf,
went to tame another--you have too many pets.
What??
Tried to summon another pet. Nope. Only 3 with me.
Log out, game freezes... okay. Alt+f4, log back in. Nope--character with that name already exists...
Now there's a WHITE WOLF showing on my login screen. I log in, and there's a ghost wolf beside me o.o
I suspect either WoW or my 'net crashed during that bolded part above--the "I went to tame another." That, or a GM was watching and took pity
So to repeat this, I imagine you'd have to be trying to tame it just right, and your comp has to crash (alt+f4 perhaps?) as the tame finishes. But, I was still in-game for a minute or two at least--long enough to trap another wolf and wait until the freeze trap was nearly finished. AND the game gave me a "too many pets" message, so I assume I was still online.
This wolf HAS A BUFF called "Ghostform" even after taming, and on the Stable Slots, shows as a -WHITE- wolf. I'm afraid to get him killed, just in case it does wipe it. But combat and dismissing seem to leave him just fine, a la oil-stained.
Wtf?
So...
Screenshots shall be inc :O
Here's hoping it lasts...

Edit, one last note... The first time I rolled a hunter, it was to tame a ghost wolf, but then they removed it. I rerolled this hunter, but still, this just makes my day

Week! MONTH! ...

Does that one show? I'll see if I can reupload the others.
Edit: Added 3, hopefully works. I keep getting a weird "413 Request Entity Too Large" error--I don't know if that's referring to the filesize or what >.<

Yey

Thanks
I can't upload the best one--where I logged in, and saw a ghost wolf there o.o The first thing I said (in /s) was OH MY GOD, followed by I LOVE YOU! >.<
Also, please ignore my silly Crossroads Guard outfit
I was trying to be close to nude so that Explosive Trap's single crit didn't kill the wolf as the tame went off, but I had no bagspace for full nakedness--so had to resort to my old "camouflage" outfit I used to hang out in XR in

Could you try to tame another one? Or someone try it, tame it and well, allow it to die? Because buff or not, if it dies and Ressurects as a Ghost Wolf...
... perhaps Blizz is trolololing us because we seemed so fanatic over Garwhal?

It took years for the Oil Stained wolf to be discovered, so I'm sure now that a whole community will be trying this someone will eventually find the magic number/method.

Good luck to all who want one!

Pretty sure that people wanted this ghost wolf back and were okay with it still being a hard tame. This certainly qualifies.

I assume I will get him killed eventually--on purpose or not--but if I did it now, and he did revert to a white wolf, I would be MASSIVELY disappointed lol

I'd prefer to let my excitement wear off first, not that it ever totally will!
I may attempt to do another later, but honestly I spent well over an hour spam-taming wolves, and it didn't work until I crashed.
If anyone wants to try and duplicate it, though:
* Get naked, or close to, so that an Explosive Trap won't one-shot the mob with one tick.
* Place a Ghostpaw Runner or Ghostpaw Alpha (the Howlers don't work) in a Freezing Trap. Take a few steps back, and place an Explosive Trap just in front of you (may want to wait a few secs for this, as the wolf will be frozen for one minute, and traps exist for one minute).
* When the Freezing Trap has between 7 and 9 seconds (the timing was very difficult, trial-and-error based, and will depend on haste) left, hit Tame Beast. With any luck, the wolf will break from the Freeze Trap and hit the Explosive just as the tame goes off--I was trying to time it like Garwal/Oil-Stained. The wolf Ghostifies AS SOON AS it takes damage, by looks.
I then crashed, though. And my net, and this realm, have been acting weird all day--it even reverted at one point by about 10 minutes, after a restart (I'd logged in in Barrens, *run* to Thunder Bluff searching for Ghost Howl, and then to my annoyance was back where I'd started after the restart!). So I don't know how much of an effect the latency, net & realm had on the tame : /

Tbh this sounds worse than Garwhal, I mean Garwhal was hard but it didn't seem nearly impossible- and ghost wolves were hard but well yeah again, you just stack enough haste and blam, wolf.
This? >_<
Maybe Blizz will just make the stone talon wolves tameable ._.

Awesome find! I hope someone can derive a method to all of this. :O
While the spirit wolf is very intriguing, I wouldn't feel right about nabbing a second wolf. I feel very attached to my OCJ Antiquus.

That's a lot of variables to take into account from Acherontia's tame, however this is a pretty determined group of hunters. xD I'm sure with trial and error someone will manage to duplicate it. Heck, there's already a group on the Petopians Guild going and attempting this right now. ^^

Let's hope so. Taking an interested guildmate hunter out to find out now

I for one would rather have the tame be a real challenge than just readily available. ;) Especially when it's about such a beautiful skin as this, it would be a real shame to have it made super easy to obtain. The hardness of the tame is what makes a pet much more attractive for me - exactly why I always go for the hardest npc when taming a specific skin.
To me this doesn't sound all that much harder than the Oil Covered Worgs - it's all about getting the timing just right. Assuming it can be done without the connection problems, that is.

Just O.M.G.
I've started doing new quests from Darkshore, Ashenvale is bound to be next... and it seems I'll have a really long stop in there!
