WoW Petopia Community

Hi there was wondering if someone could maybe try add a special Map under the Picture of the pet we want in Petopia and we could easily find where it spawns and how many hours it normally takes to re-spawn etc... like make Info about that pet on each one of them because lately every time i try find where they spawn there no info on thotbot about it thought maybe it time for us to try add new feature to the website and add maps where they spawn etc....

Also maybe we can able to dot where it spawns too on the Map.

What do you guys think ?

For the most part, the information is right there - Mania put links to the three major WoW search engines next to each beast of a given skin. I understand wanting all the info in one place, but it's not hard to click through to the search site of your choice and, more importantly, you're asking for something that'd be a lot of work for Mania. Personally, I don't see any reason why she should do this.

Well i try 3 of them it dosen,t show where it spawn etc... keep saying sorry cannot be found

Because it's technically new from the patch. Give it a few weeks and it should be right as rain.

I also think it would be easy because all you do is basically put Picture of the pet and have another picture under the pet is a map were been updated by any1 and Maina only need to Accept to Make sure it correct. But then again i am not sure if it`s hard but never hurts to ask

Oh, it's a lot more work than that, wildstormz. I agree that it'd be practical but like I said, I just don't see the need. Just my personal opinion.

As for wowhead (and the other sites), the way they work is by gathering the data from members. The more data points, the more accurate the information. Right now, there aren't a lot of data points for new pets, so it's not so accurate.

Aside from using those sources, remember to search these forums. Most of the new rares have multiple posts on here where people explain where they found them.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree that the links to outer sites are perfectly adequate. It doesn't take long to click one link, and that saves Mania a lot of time and work from inputting that stuff herself.

also dont forget zeilla8 videos. most of the pets she has gotten she has shown map and time spawns

True that. Only three people with the Wowhead Looter installed have looted Ashtail, so the info on the drops is really limited right now. However, there are already several tags on a map showing where players with the Wowhead Looter installed had encountered Ashtail.

It takes a lot of work to maintain that database, and they rely upon enough players installing their addon to get good info. Wowhead has a small paid staff that keeps the site running. To expect Mania to denote where to find each and every single NPC that can be tamed in this game, including all the rare spawns...

The problem is making the maps. Without the tools that Wowhead has, making the map is a massive undertaking. Then you have to link them all...

I think the current system works beautifully. I can't see how it could possibly be practical to add something like that to Petopia. It would be extremely cubersome to keep it updated, since Petopia does not have anything like the Wowhead Client. Nor does it need to; Wowhead already has it. Between Wowhead, Thottbot and Allakhazam, we have more than enough sites that provide us with this type of information. I see no need at all to implement something similar on Petopia. In fact, I can only see it becoming a bother, since Mania has incredible amounts of information to juggle as it is. We already have direct links to the information; what else could we possibly need?

I agree. Also we need to keep in mind....Mania pretty much runs Petopia by herself. Adding such a feature would overload her for sure.

Not just Petopia....Warcraft Mounts and Warcraft Tabards as well. And I'm sure many other non-WoW related things.

It just doesn't make sense to make more work for her when there doesn't have to be. With one click you can find the info you need right beside the pet names.

Basically, it's not that hard to do the extra clicking yourself.

I've often thought that it would be nice to have maps/spawn time info when available. "Click for More Info" or something. I only think that because Petopia is -the- Hunter Pet site, and to be 100% comprehensive, and the be-all end-all resource, it'd need all the info.

But, the links are easy to click, and the WORKLOAD involved in ADDING the maps would just be nuts.

That's why, for me, "it'd be cool if this page had maps" is just a thought
