okay, here's the deal. I'm trying to run the Troll starter quest (with my hubby's lowbie) and my 80 hunter. I get past the first couple of quests but get stuck on "The Arts of a Hunter".

See what's required to finished the quest is you need to use your newly learned Steady Shot, and shot one Tiki target (lvl 1) 5 times. I'm 80, so even though I'm stripped butt naked, with a low level bow equipped and nothing else, with pet on passive and switch to my duel talent that I have yet to spec -- I still kill the Tiki Target in two shots.

And unless I complete this quest I'm stuck here and can't move on to the next one. Is there anything I seem to be missing that I haven't tried yet to lower my dps?

I've also tried to post on the WoW forums, but it says I'm restricted to posting there. /sigh

Edit: I just finished talking with a GM in game and he/she suggested that 80's had seemed to be able to complete the quest shooting at Training Dummies in the Valley of Trials. So I dropped what I was doing, rushed over there, and sure enough it worked. I'm a very happy Hunter at the moment.

Have you tried buying a low level vendor bow? Or even see if you can get a grey drop from one of the starting zones? That, coupled with stripping naked, might get you five shots in... Maybe?

You don't have to shoot the same target 5 times, you can shoot 5 different targets.

The lowbie bow I have is from a quest turn in, I'll see if I can find a gray one.

I've tried shooting 5 different targets and I still don't get credit for the quest. I've downed all the Tiki's on this island and still nothing. /sigh.

That's odd. For those quests I did multiple targets and I got credit. Hmm.

So you have done them on a level 80?

No, on newbie Trolls only. I just assumed that it would be the same for everyone if I could shoot multiple targets for my quests.

Should put in a ticket about that.

Yeah you would think. I've spent an hour trying to figure this out. I've looked up bugs on the WoW forum, but nothing and I can't post there cause it says restricted for whatever reason. I have no other way around it.

Did find a beginners bow, 1.3dps and still nothing. I kill everything in one shot -- and I could spend another hour shooting multiple targets and would get no where. This is really annoying. Maybe I'll be able to post on the WoW forums tomorrow or something.

Yeah, that's something I'll probably do tomorrow also. I have the joy of working Black Friday and have to be up at un-Godly hours, so I need to get to bed now.

If you're trying to use the old forums, you won't be able to post--they went to read only status a few days ago. I'd suggest going to the new forums and see if anyone's reported anything.

Thank you TygerDarkstorm, I was able to post in the Bug Forums. Hopefully someone will have a fix for it. I'm gonna assume that the mods are all at home for thanksgiving, and expect a response tomorrow.

Blah, no replies on the wow forums and my tickets been in for hours and nothing. Just "We are currently experiencing a high volume of petition." Yeah when are they not.

Well, if you ask me, you can't complete this quest on a toon that already has Steady Shot.
The quest states clearly, you have to talk to her again and learn Steady Shot and then practice it 5 times on the Tiki targets.

I'm not sure if this is the problem but it's the only thing that comes to mind.

Maybe there is a flag that activates the Steady Shot counter and it's set when you actually learn Steady Shot?

Just a thought... Computers work that way, ya know?

I don't know. It says Learned Steady Shot (Completed), so you'd think since Steady Shot was learned it should work. But who knows, weird things happen.

I've got a ticket in for the issue right now. Can't wait to see what they say about it.

Nah.

Same quest in the undead starter zone, killing dummies instead of Tikis.

On my lowbie I'd already bought steady shot from the trainer before this quest came up. Was able to kill the target using just steady and got credit.
Could also kill multiple targets.

Havent tried it on a high level toon though!

I just did it on a newb hunter - just like Cryptography I went and learned steady shot, then got the quest to talk to my trainer, and then did the quest. It completed no problem even though I already knew steady shot.

I don't think this is a mechanics problem, it sounds more like a character issue.
