I never thought a "cute" pet would be so "me", but this little guys is so freaking adorable! I am totally in love with him!!!!

And I barely walked into Loch Modan, and he was like the 3rd fox I saw. So please, feel free to hate me, I was incredibly lucky... for ONCE!

Just got mine 5mins ago, she was just walking around. Named her Smoke! ^_^

EDIT: May name her Artemis or Athena to go with my hunter's greek god name, Heleos.

I'm one of the unusual people: I didn't much care for Ashtail's coloring. I don't *hate* it, but I'm not all 'SQUEE OMG' about it.

The silvery foxes in the Gilneas ruins, now, *that* I picked up! <3

I think I will prefer the silver ones too.. but this is my first fox, and the SHAPE! they are absolutely adorable.

and I called my Ashtail "fumée"... which is French for smoke! LOL

I have now tamed both versions: the rare and the lighter silver version.. and I can't decide which I prefer!!!

I <3 my black fox. I am an oddball, the tan one is my other favorite. Congratulations.

Pff I don't get the fuss about ashtail. The black fox looks way better IMO, i just love the black white contrast.

I tamed both a silver an a black, going to see which one clicks more. Might tame Ashtail in the future to check it out.

For me I think it became personal. I missed out on him on the first day of the patch, then lost out to an Orc hunter earlier today only to come back about an hour later to find the same Orc hunter had brought a mate along, who promptly tamed him. So I camped there for an hour and twenty minutes and finally he showed up.

yeah I think it's more the uniqueness of the blue skin. I agree that the black one looks better, but despite getting Ashtail now, I'd much rather have the ones that will be in Tol Barad

Let us count the reasons:

• Rare mob: some people go crazy for rarespawns.
• Unique skin: if you want this color, this is the only mob you can get.
• Rare mob with unique skin: sends some people into a lust-frenzy. Bonus points for it being sufficiently distinct that people "in the know" can tell at a glance that you went out and got a rarespawn.
• Taste: there is no accounting for it. More seriously, there's always an element of "THIS is the skin I prefer"-- so you may like the high contrast of black and white, but someone else might like the exact shade of blue on Ashtail, or really like the red-orange on the red fox. There is no objectively superior skin, taste-wise.

(That said, as happy as I am that everyone who wants this pet is getting it, I want nothing to do with it. Rare mobs with unique skins are overwhelmingly appealing to some people; I find them repugnant for my purposes.)

Well, my baby Huntresse (barely level 40) just tamed one of the silver skin foxes, and it is GORGEOUS, too.

I don't know now which I prefer.

I just know that the entire fox family are beautiful beasts.

And of course, having the "play" ability just makes them that much more like a real "pet". They do something that has no purpose to anyone else but the Hunter, and it's to demonstrate happiness. I think that is AWESOME.

I got Ashtail today (this is my first hunter, she just hit 20 but got him this morning when she was still 18) and was so excited it was ridiculous! Waited about 45min for him to pop, starting at just after 8am. I think I may have actually made a noise approximating SQUEEEE! when I tamed him. He is so, so adorable and I love his color.

I named him Ash, which may not seem all that creative but he's actually named after the character Jason Schwartzman voiced in Fantastic Mr Fox.

I can see how pets can become very habit forming...

I think Ashtail is pretty and all but Midnight, my black fox, will always be my very favorite of the bunch (see below). I also tamed a silver one from Gilneas on a hunter alt, Evolet, and named her Alizée. I plan to run my nelf hunter, Nova, to tame Ashtail.

I'm really big on matching pet-and-hunter colors, you see! Midnight matches Lahni's dark hair perfectly, Alizée matches Evolet's hair and skin, and Ashtail and Nova have almost identical colors as well.

I don't have Ashtail. I have a red fox, named Tallia. But I will join in the OMGSQUEEE!!! They are the CUTEST things ever! I am so in love with my fox! And the dancing! Yay! A pet that dances with me!

EDIT: Inspired by this thread, I went to look for Ashtail. There she was, waiting for me!

My GF got hers earlier this week then told me the next morning she had a feeling I should go check for one for myself. There were about 4 other hunters out there looking and when I spotted Ashtail on my tracking. I watched 2 other hunters run right past the area Ashtail was in (there is nothing worse than that feeling that you might miss out on a tame) but lucky for me they were not paying attention and I was able to get it! I named it Loki in honor of the god of mischief =)

More fox LOVE whee Im amacedon how much i accually love this pet... think im going for a red or black one too

Picked up this fella earlier today, no one else was around. I'm not a big fan of foxes on the whole, I don't like their model and their special ability is a bit lackluster compared to the other ferocity pets, but I wanted him just to say that I do have him. Also hey everyone, I'm new to the forums, and as the hunter class in general, always wanted to play one but I didn't want to have long ears, tusks, horns, green skin, face tentacles or be a midget to play one, so I rolled a human one as soon as they were available!
