So today I set myself hearthed at BBay earlier in the morning in case I would have time for the fishing tourney today.

I awoke at 1:55 from putting my son down for a nap (i fell asleep too like i usually do) and thought oh heck might as well do the tourney...

Just before tourney starts my wife tells me I have to hold my daughter (which I complied with of course)

So while holding my daughter in one hand, and playing with the other, I managed to somehow WIN the STV Fishing Tourney! Boy it gets intense the last 5-6 tastyfish

I was up the eastern coast all the way, and luckily had little to no competition for most of it, and only had to fight for pools the last 10 or so

Too add more bonuses I got the special Green 1-h Fish-Mace thats part of "The One That Didn't Get Away" achievement!

I have terrible luck with the fishing tournies, so I've never even tried to really get the Salty title. That's the one achieve in my way. I totally understand how awesome it is to get it then

I hastily picked the fishing pole as a reward, I put in a GM ticket to see if they could change it to the Fish-Trinket thingy. Thats what I wanted, but I wanted to make sure I would win it more since someone else was standing near the turn in guy too.

Grats! I personally won it over the summer. Which, made me super happy knowing that I wouldn't be able to participate as soon as I got to Russia (too much time difference. :[ ) Where did you fish? I had personally done it up near Zandalar Isle and found little competition until the end. o:

My bf won that on his mage, and absolutely LOVES his trinket that turns him into a fish! He jokes that he doesn't need a druid now (though he made one anyway)

Heh, i'm waiting on a GM response, I told myself i would just click whatever trophy just so i can make sure to win it, and i ended up picking up the fishing pole which i don't need

I fished on the north eastern coastline (still in modern day lower or southern STV) near those wierd undead troll ruins. Practically no one was up there so that went to my advantage

I just need this darn Mr. Pinchy now, then i'll have smooth fishing for the rest of the SALTY title

With a response like that, should I even try resubmitting a GM ticket to get the fishing pole and trinket switched?

Honestly, I wouldn't. Sounds like they're pretty solid on their policy about this. Too bad. But hey, at least you know the GM really tried!

Does anyone have experience with that Fish trinket? Would it be worthless to use if I were to say... fish up the Sea Turtle? Or perhaps even wait for the Sea Horse mount in Cata?

I've had mine since Classic. It doesn't have much practical use, but it sure is lots of fun! And it gives you underwater breathing while the turtle doesn't.

I like my fish trinket because it's instant cast and you can pick up quest items while wearing it. The only downside is that it takes up a trinket slot and has a 30s equip cooldown (so put it on in advance). But then again, I did pick the trinket second... won the tournament two weeks in a row back in vanilla and I got the fishing pole first (it was way more important back then).

The advantage to the fish trinket is water breathing. And, if it's equipped, can be used in combat, though any cast or attack will break it. Otherwise, it's slower than the turtle.

Personally, I love playing with it, but I think the speed could be increased some. I tend to levitate and run if I need to cross a lot of water.

I think i'm going to go for the Sea Turtle and enjoy the Fishing Pole. Its a nice fishing pole at least and I don't have to finish my Kaluak grind anymore
