Definitive List of Flying Pets

With patch 4.0.3a, there's been a surge in new pets that have the ability to fly. I'm not just talking about hovering over the ground, but true flying, in the sense they don't follow ground pathing. They can fly off cliffs, up hills, on the sides of building, and even fight in mid-air.
So on a friend's recommendation, I figured I'd start thread listing all confirmed pets that are able to fly.
Confirmed Fliers
Birds of Prey
Carrion Birds
Bats
Wasps
Suspected Fliers
Carrion Birds
Originally Suspected, But Confirmed Not Fliers
Birds of Prey
Carrion Birds
Wasps
Chimeras
If you able to confirm or deny any in the "Reported/Suspected" section, please post here with a screenshot showing the flying. Also reply in this thread if you have a new one to add to either list; preferably with a screenshot.
Note: Before replying saying "xxxxxx pet can't fly", please try dismissing the pet then resummoning then try testing again. Frequently, after first-taming, flying pets stay grounded until resummoned.

Did some testing. Out of the new parrots, all but 1 could fly. Ol' Beaky (
Grey Parrot) unfortunately is a ground pather
Also, I was able to confirm the Starving Buzzard, Parched Buzzard, and Giant Buzzard (
Vulture) are all fliers

So I tamed a gull in the water in 1K needles (there's a crap load of easy ones to get flying above some dead, floating turtles) and I sent it to attack a couple of the flyers while I was swimming, and it didn't fly. Do you think it was because I was swimming?

Forgot to note this in the first post, but after the initial tame, it might be ground-bound. It happened with my seagull too. Just dismiss it then re-summon and it'll fly

Mine was the same. I had to unspawn the pet and then respawn it (unsummon and resummon, in my case with mounting) for it to do its 'flying' trick.

Tamed a Kalimdor Eagle to replace my Goretalon Roc, but it was not able to attack other Kalimdor Eagles that were flying. This is even after desummoning and resummoning it. Maybe the Hyjal Roc will be a flyer?

Thanks a ton for this list

I'm making a (very) short vid showing the new pathing system, and I'll reference this post in the Info!

I was surprised when after I tamed the undead eagle, I went to Storm Peaks to look for Skoll and Vera... That blue dragon rare was up. Since I couldn't reach it, I sent my eagle after it and low and behold, it flew up and was chasing after that dragon like a champ! Flying pets that actually fly? Elated!

Did some testing the other day with the Loch Modan eagles. Came across Lord Condar, so I tamed him as well. I was able to show that when my eagle would path straight through the air, Lord Condar would path along the ground. So, despite being a mob that patrols up in the air, Lord Condar cannot path through the air once tamed.

Tainted Screechers fly
Bonepicker Felfeeders fly
Loch Buzzards do not fly
Was unable to find Lord Condar to test but if the Loch Buzzards can't fly, likely he can't, either
Darkclaw Bats can fly
I also went and tried to tame a Brownfeather Hawk as they look as if they would be fliers, but they are at the moment untameable.
Testing others; I'll edit this if and when I find other fliers.

I think this might be the best trick to get a tag on TLPD huh? Who knows, keep one handy in case there might be another rare that drops a mount in Cata

Could a list of confirmed non-flyers (like Ol' Beaky

) be added to the first post too please? I was afraid my Icarus was bugged out, but if Ol' Beaky is grounded for everyone, that makes sense.
(I love that he had his name before this whole thing cropped up...my flier Daedalus, who's a temporary, took his name after the discovery...)

Dire Condors in Redridge Mountains are fliers (and have working flight animations once dismissed and resummoned!).

This is exactly why I want flying pets to remain in-game. Granted, if I use my Albino Eyegouger to pull the Time-Lost Proto Drake before it comes within range of someone else, I'll probably get reported and land in hot water for exploiting a bug in the game.
Part of me thinks that this is great and should absolutely stay in-game, while another part of me worries about how this could be exploited. Considering that a warlock can use the Eye of Kilrogg to kite a flying rare within aggro range, I don't see why I can't with a parrot. Maybe if flying players couldn't be dismounted by PvP attacks (attacks that will flag the attacker for PvP in a PvE realm, and are subject to damage mitigation from resilience), then we could keep our damage mitigation. After all, flying too close to a canyon or mountainside could have you plummeting to your death thanks to some ganker. But, I have to accept the fact that this probably will get hotfixed at some point. Probably before they hotfix pets autoattacking random critters
