Miniwing from Deadmines

Hi guys,

I don't have any screenshots with me, but I can confirm that you can get Miniwing from the final room of deadmines on normal.

Just wanted to clarify for people as it took me 21 runs before she showed up. I'd almost given up thinking the internets was lying to me.

She's so pretty though! Totally worth it.

All my pets are female - except for my turtle.

I gave them all female names :D

Sure a couple of them may be in the stables a little bit confused about their sexuality. But I know the truth. Especially King Bangalash. She just looked so much more like a Charlotte that that is what she became.

Good to know; I've been looking for this bird the last 2 nights. I've seen the white one 3 times. >.>

As far as the pets being female, well ,most of mine are female too! ( I just know )
I think being the mother of all males, I'm just shell shocked. My oldest is married and when he is home and they are all together, the noise level is maxed out, the activity level is highest. Even my DIL notices it. She said it's as though they energize each other. I think one reason is because they're all 18 mo's apart.

So my pets....quiet girls. Twenty years ago it didn't bother me. Now, I want peace!

I am pretty sure it's gone, but there was a quest in the wetlands with ghost pirates. Their special attack would turn you into a ghost pirate, which for pets would show up as a female/male ghost pirate depending on the pet's gender. But I just automatically assume all my pets are female.

Except for my turtle as Turkleton is a male name.

*sigh*

I've run the deadmines about.... 40 times now, and my freind has run it ten, looking for this one bird.

We've found the albino three or four times now, but no miniwing.

*pouts*

The problem is, that this method actually lies sometimes! :o I used it for fun myself some time ago, but I went and got Loque, and the questchain and "title" totally confirms he's a male, but he turned into a female undead :? Yeah, yeah, guess Blizz was lazy not making him male.. but after that I stopped, and just make my pets gender up as I go along ;)

there is a quest for miniwing in terrokar forrest, or is it a different miniwing? It's a white bird with blueish markings on it.

Thats a quest for a companion pet.

The one we are talking about is a tamable parrot in the Deadmines.

Ironically, my turtle (who just so happened to be Ghamoo-ra) was sometimes recognized by the announcer in Valhalas. So, according to that announcer, my turtle is a female.

I am amazed. I have been looking for this bird the last few nights and this last run was close to 48-50. My wrist was getting tired of going round the first downward spiral as I use the mouse to 'drive'. My 80s are a hunter, druid and warlock.
But I have quite a few hunters, I seem to really enjoy them. So I have an 80 hunter, a 70 hunter, both new draenei's ( were dwarfs for years) and then I did the RAF and leveled 2 twin blood elf hunters. Twin everything from gear to pets. It was a novelty to go from dwarf to blood elf. I could wear anything!

My runs for the parrots were with my 80, and my 70 hunter was in EP looking for ghost wolf. Yes, it has a sword in it's head when you encounter it. I'll post a pic.
I go into the deadmines for maybe the 48th time and again I hit the cannon and as I walk through the door, I hold my breath. I had seen the while one now 5 times, and always just above my head as I walked out on the wood deck. ( I did tame one as I have a Umbrella cockatoo).

I did put the number of the mini wing into npc scan. It wasn't the vanity pet, it was the hunter pet. It never went off, and this time was no different. As I walked to the first explosion area, I jumped and then looked forward. I seemed to see the white one much further down. Then as I got closer, I realized it was the blue and while and there was another not far from it. I thought it was the white one. No, 2 mini wings.
Nice, but sad. My alt was in EP. Then I began to think. I invited her and then flew her to westfall (hoping I didn't disconnect) and then she entered the instance. Would it work, or would this time be just different and that the extra pet would go to no one. How sad.
As I walked through the deadmines I saw the dead mobs my alt killed, so I was hopeful. Then I got to the cannon and walked out. I saw my other hunter, and then in the air, I saw the second mini wing.
OK, finally I get a 2-fer. This last run gave me 2 parrots. I don't think I would have been ready to take my my 70 through that thing again and again. She is really a second hunter because I began her before there were transfers. So, she's not my main concern and I need a break from the dead mines!

All I can say is that this bird does appear, but 'when' is anyones guess. The white parrot did show up 4-5 times and that was in the first half of my runs. Honestly, the last 10 -15 runs, I did not see the white one. Saw nothing special. I think it is just seriously random. So random that I got the white one on the 2nd or 3rd time there, and yet it took close to 50 to find the blue and white, and then I find 2.
One thing I did do the last 8-9 times, was kill the parrots that were there. In the beginning I didn't see what I wanted so I got out right away. Those last times I killed all of them. It may make no difference at all. Tho it probably won't hurt.
I'll include some photos of mini and the ghost wolf in east plaguelands . You'd never know what it(wolf) was if you weren't looking for it.

Oh, just incase others were wondering (me too until I looked it up), they're referring to this bird: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=48449

Called 'Brilliant Macaw'.

Yeah, we should have clarified. Miniwing is a non-combat pet that you get from doing an escort quest in Terokkar Forest. Of course, hunters have been wanting to tame a full-scale version of this bird since tBC. So, when the Brilliant Macaw became available, it quickly got dubber 'Miniwing' by the players who saw this as the tameable version of Miniwing that they'd always wanted.

Mania may want to, at some point, add a note on the Brilliant Macaw explaining that the beast is often referred to as 'Miniwing'.

I don't think killing them makes a difference - I killed them all the first couple of times I went through, but then my gf got upset at me killing the pretty birdies, so I stopped.

As for pics - sorry, I posted at work, was going to upload a screenshot when I got home and well... got home late and servers are down.

Based on this thread, I reckon the brilliant macaw definitely deserves a rare tag on petopia though.
