Hey guys, I mentioned in Griffleys Oil Hawk post that I managed to tame the Burning boars from Mulgore. Still not sure how to directly upload Images but heres the link to my deviant picture.

There are seemingly a bunch of glitches with how haste interacts with tame beast at the moment... I had 57% haste at times with 13 second cast timed tames! that doesnt make sense... SO

A bud came down to help me and we discovered that tossing the torch wont pull aggro from someone already taming.
At the point, and because the boars die on their own from the torch effect, It just became a matter of timing my friends torch launch when I had about 6 seconds left on the tame.

From there on out its all the normal death-trick, so Good luck guys! Ill be trying other tames soon, and i think i might be close to getting the ashenvale ghost wolf too... everyday i get a tad closer

UPDATE: Turns out Arch figured out the whole petabandon() method, so no more slaving over that damn ghost wolf These boars can now be tamed by this new method as well, so long as they are on fire at the end of the tame Hunt on hunters!

Would this be Horde-only? If so, what level is it? And, is it in a zone where I won't be flagged as PvP? My brother would most likely be willing to help me out by doing this on one of his Horde toons. I'm not into any of the visual-effect pets thus far, but I love boars, so this one I must have!

This is in Mulgore, in the starting zone of the Tauren.
The quest is like the 5th one you get just starting out, so if you're alliance, you can get a friend to make a new character.

I think as horde, it is possible to solo this. With elixir of haste, I have my normal taming down to 8.1 seconds. If you stand at max throwing rage, it is possible to time it so there's 6 seconds remaining on the tame just as the boar catches fire.

Been unsuccessful after ~10 tries so far, but that's mostly because of timing.

The quest is definitely Horde-only, but anyone can do the tame if they get a confederate to roll a Tauren!

Oh, and in case you're wondering, the only way for Alliance to enter Mulgore without raiding the zeppelins is to go to the Great Gate in Southern Barrens. You can run around the wall at the north end. As for entering the starting area itself, I'm pretty sure you have no choice but to run the gauntlet of level 85 guards and make it through before dying

If only entering Teldrassil and Azuremyst were this easy for Horde players

I'm assuming you have to utilize the whole 'tame while dead' and then hit revive method?

I'm pretty sure that's what is being said. The twist here is that you pretty much need a friend to throw the torch for you since the boar will die within 6 seconds of being lit on fire. Thus, the torch thrower has to be the one to time it right, with the tamer being responsible for reviving the pet ASAP.

Took quite a few tries but I finally got it.



I was using a Freezing Trap to keep the boar stationary so it wasn't running all around and occasionally out of my Tame Beast range in mid-tame. I was pretty much max range for the tame. I tossed the torch and immediately started spamming Tame once the GCD went through from the torch. Then its was just trial and error to get the time right. Eventually I got it.

Oh and I did this solo, no external help. Tame beast with my haste (21%) was about 8 seconds. The fact I was standing at such a distance meant by the time the torch landed, I had about 6 seconds left on the tame right when the boar caught fire.

EDIT: I named him "Overcooked".

GREAT!!! Thanks for the info guys! I'll have to give it a shot this weekend and let you know. Hopefully I can get the hang of the whole "revive immediately" trick and I'll have a flaming boar to call my own. Yay!

Took a bit, but I was able to get it with the help of a friend. Solo taming it is possible but MUCH trickier. I tried solo for about 20 minutes, gave up, called a friend and had it in 5. Didn't use traps or anything, just timing between the tame start and the torch throw. Definitely a cool pet. Love the effect and am certainly keeping him.

Now to think of a cool name... something bacon related....

Went and got one of these. I have a tame time of 9.8 secs so had to enlist a passing lv.3 for help. Got it the 5th try. Went with Kaz for the name, may change. Thanks for putting the info up here

Might wanna add the steps it takes to do this

Step 1; Create a Tauren. This quest is TAUREN ONLY, as my friend on his 80 troll hunter could not start the quest. You are aiming for the quest "Feed of Evil"
Step 2; Figure out how to get there. Just run, take a flight, hack around (not suggested), etc.
Step 3; Begin taming the boar. They die after 7 seconds ON THE DOT, so figure out how long your tame takes before trying.
Step 4; Spam the living crap out of Revive Pet near the end of the tame.

If successful; You'll see a pet bar for a split second, but no level-up animation. The pet will despawn, and you'll have a blank whistle instead of a boar face. Log out and back in, select the newly shown boar picture, and you now have bacon!

In unsuccessful;
- The mob will run out of range and die later.
- The pet dies, and you see a ding.
- the pet is tamed, then dies.
- The pet dies before being tamed.
- You get facerolled as alliance by the guards, who are ?? Elites with 256k hp and hit for 150k damage melee swing.
- P.E.T.A. gets angry that you have a perpetually immolated swine, and immolates you.


I got mine after 20 attempts roughly. Totally awesome pet, no matter what. I hate boars other than helboars, but this is magnificent. Thank you for testing and confirming that this worked.

One thing I wanted to add. My guildies both just tamed one of these, and neither of them had to log out after the tame. They just hit Revive pet and there it was.

You definitely have to hit Revive before you see the yellow ding/level animation the pet. If you see that it's pretty much guaranteed it didn't work.

Went there with my hunter. Got my cousins char, got the quest. After 5 attempts i got it. Some poor hunter was there for 1 hour+, so i told her how to get it, after couple attempts, she got hers.

Myself being an orc, I had to do a couple quests before I got the quest for the boars, but I did eventually get the quest.

*nod* It's available to any Horde character.

I attacked Gamon with my boar to purposely kill it just to revive it to see if it kept the fire. And it did.

Me and a friend in the guild got these bad boys! takes timing and patience... which i lack much xD but we got em! ice trap to keep em from running helps alot now on mine.. i didnt have to log for him to show and neither did my friend.
