So yeah, they hugely lowered the amount of experience you get from mobs in instances, which means leveling up fresh pets by doing randoms is pointless. While I understand their rationale (so people don't just run instances to get to 80 and don't do the quests and such), it's definitely annoying.

What level are you talking about?.. they made that change the other day, and I was leveling pets fine last night..

They nerfed 1-60 quite a bit, they didn't say anything about 60+.

You mean how a pet gets only 121 exp from a level 81 elite when level 77? Cause that happened to my Flaming Crab (Felscale Crawler). I want to level up my pet now Blizz.

Something hidden in the daily hotfix?..

Of course, if they nerfed it the way they did for 1-60, then I might never set foot in heroics after I get gear drops that I need.

Hopefully they won't nerf the xp from gathering. Seems like they are tired of people doing chain-heroics.

They definitely did for Northrend content, my fresh Beetle didn't even reach halfway to 78 (I'm 80) from the first instance I ran when he should have been really close to 78 or leveled.

Then they must have done that as a stealth change today.

But if you can get about a 1/2 level from an instance, that's still not too bad. It's better than it used to be.

Eh, I'm kinda holding off on pet leveling anyway. The stuff I'm doing right now (goofing around in New Old Azeroth) doesn't require level 80 pets and they'll level quickly enough once I start leveling in Cata.

A guildmate and I got maybe an eighth of a bar on our 77 pets in heroic Gundrak. Painful exp nerf is painful.

Edit: Only on heroic. Able to get decent pet exp out of normal occ.

Whew. Thanks for the warning. Guess I leveled my flaming boar just in time!

Time to start thinking about abandoning some pets.... sigh.... Not gonna run 8 heroics to level a pet one level. Must cut down what I won't level.

I level my pets in heroics anyway so doesnt seem that bad.

What stinks is that we still need to chain run heroics to get some JP if you are not at 4000 yet, and now the xp for the pets stinks.. sigh...

Oh, they even don't have to know about it...

then don't run heroics. Run'm on normal if you just want pet exp. They still get fantastic exp in normal instances, just.. not the loot.

Hmm.. still waiting for a heroic to test, but I got 2+ bubbles from one pass of the mammoths around the one spire in Sholozar. Grinding mobs for xp didn't get nerfed at least. Meat market here I come.

I wouldn't worry about hitting the cap. From what I've heard you cannot buy lvl 85 gear unless your lvl 85. I don't know if this is a bug or what. I know the vendors are in place and you can see the gear but you can't buy anything yet.

They will fix it so it's easier to lvl your pet now that I'm sure of ( I hope atleast). There will be to much of an uproar from the hunters.

Try killing the guys for Argent Tournament daily quests or packs of converted heroes(?) in Icecrown. You can level them in less than an hour. I'm at maximum stable capacity with all 80s.

yeah, that bar ain't moving at all in a heroic... yeah about 1 bar per a heroic... gonna farm meat to level.
