Camping Krush. Any tips? (TAMED)

I have decided that I shall tame that over grown Yoshi. Stupid green dino... I have Loque'nahak, I have Aotona... I just need Krush to complete my collection.

Anyways, I already know he hits like a truck so I shall use my pvp gear. I also have a haste elixir and a haste potion as well. Once question I have is can I pop Deterrence before Tame Beast? It might help with the hits enough to let the taming finish. (I also do have NPCscan)

Anything else I should know.

A few things of note...when I first went after Krush, I thought I was ready for him. Turns out I wasn't, so I'll talk you through what my alt hunter did to prepare for him (do note, he is a Troll Hunter and thusly had Beserking to halve the taming time)

* Baked Manta Ray - you're going to need this food stacked on you at all times (40 haste + 40 stamina). Doesn't sound like much benefit, but believe me, it's worth it.
* Potion of Speed comes highly recommended
* Elixir of Major Fortitude is worthwhile to bring, but doesn't give much of a HP boost. Flask of Stoneblood is one better than that. Half a stack of these is recommended. Also bring about a half stack of Scroll of Stamina VIII's with you.
* Resilience gear does nothing to compensate for his critical hits, so don't be like my main hunter and stack this sort of gear.
* I never tried the Deterrence trick, but I'm guessing once the tame starts, it may actually cancel your taming spell. Don't quote me on that though, I honestly haven't a clue...
* Stack stamina and haste gems wherever possible.
* Fezzik's Pocket Watch & Thorny Rose Brooch are the trinkets I used (though in a moment of panic, it turns out I had clicked my gear macro twice and had gone into the whole tame with 400 less haste than I should have done!)
* Macros make things a world and a half easier for Krush.

I followed Garwulf's Krush solo-tame guide for the most part of my experience, but since I lacked his epic pvp gear (especially his bow), I got a slight bit on the impatient side and only had 3 pieces of Windrunner gear on Kas, the rest were all blues gemmed solely for stamina and haste. Kas went into the taming with 22.3k HP and 800 haste due to my panicked state. I highly recommend going in with at least 24k HP and around 1250 - 1500 haste.

The thing to remember with Krush is that his subsequent fears are completely random. The only constant however is that he will fear once right off the bat. Of greatest importance here is that you send your temp pet into him (I highly recommend a gorilla trash pet for Thunderstomp), wait until Krush launches his first fear, hit the Pet Command Macro (listed below), and then abandon pet and start the taming. Yes, Krush can fear you when BW disappears. Yes, he will possibly crit twice in a row too. It took me five tries to nail the green bastard to the floor. The first four times, he feared me after BW disappeared. It's totally based on how lucky you truly are when you go into the taming dance with this overgrown Yoshi ;)

Macros I used in order:
Stamina Buffs
/use Scroll of Stamina VIII
/use Flask of Stoneblood

Pet Commands
/cast Bestial Wrath
/cast Call of the Wild
/cast Rabid
/cast Kill Command

Pet Abandon
/script PetAbandon()

Equipment Macro
#showtooltip Tame Beast
/equip Thorny Rose Brooch (replace this with any better stam/haste trinket you have on you)
/use Potion of Speed
/use 13
/use 14
/cast !Tame Beast

Place these macros on your toolbar somewhere where you can hit each one in a controlled sequence. Do expect to lose all sense of control once you find Krush. He is a heart-pounding, totally exhilarating tame...and most definitely worth it.

Good luck, hon!

what is up with the whole use item to tame. just use freezing trap the one last 20 sec which is how long the taming process take.

"What is up" with it is that King Krush is immune to the freeze trap - as well as just about all other forms of crowd control. If you don't get your tame time down as short as possible, there is almost zero chance you'll actually get him tamed.

As to your question, OP...if you have a pocket priest and/or shaman, you'll find them invaluable. The priest for Fear Ward, to be applied right as your BW is wearing off, and the shaman for Bloodlust/Heroism to help give you a little further boost in the Haste department. Also these one or two friends can potentially assist you by running "interference" with all those well-meaning people who might think you're trying for the kill achievement and not a tame.

Good luck on getting him!

I'm actually amused by this, because there were plenty of people who had this same misconception that King Krush actually could be freeze trapped when I first went after him.

He cannot be freeze trapped. Scare beast makes the big bastard laugh at you before he brings his foot down and smashes you one. He fears periodically, interrupting a tame. He crits for well over 5k on an unprepared hunter/any other class that decides he's fair game for killing.

In short? He's not your "average easymode tame", honey.

Mmm, alrightly. I have around 24k in my PvP which has most of my stam gems in it. I can likely get my friend to make me some flasks and scrolls are cheap as hell on my server so that'll be taken care of. Chances are I'll likely try to get my friends shaman to help me. Bloodlust affects tame beast yes? >_>

A good idea is to ask for a priest (perhaps a guild mate) who will wait patiently with you.
Make a plan with them. You have to cast distracting shot a few times on Krush before tame or else he will attack the priest. Have the priest cast fear ward about 8 seconds in, Krush fears at 10 or 15. It will probably take a few tries to tame him.
Don't give up. This guy is totally worth it! You get WAY too many compliments with him out ;)

Good Luck and Happy Hunting,

My friend did agree to help me get Krush so long as I help him find Time-Lost. XD He has both a 80 Shaman and an 80 Priest, so i can take either one. I kinda want the shaman a bit more, but I guess either will do.

Thank you!

Hate to double post, but I just tamed Krush at 10pm server time. After several failed attempts and almost loosing him to a couple Alliance, I managed to tame him. Thankfully, the Alliance stood back and allowed me to tame.

Thank you for all the tips and now off to the Name that Pet forum!
