Sea Turtle Vs. Abyssal Seahorse

So I just got my Abyssal Seahorse.. and it seems that my Sea Turtle now goes JUST as fast as the sea horse. I don't have any numbers from the tooltips (they just say 'great swimmer' and 'very fast mount') nor do I have any addons or anything to measure speed.

Is this just me, or can anyone confirm? :)

Edit: Nope, not as fast. Just raced someone and I lost, but not by much. The swim turtles speed has almost definitely been increased passed walking speed which is still a great find. :)

If I remember right Sea Turtles walk on land- and in water they were 60% mounts. Where did you test it? The new Cata zone or old world? The new swim speed might only be applied in the new zones; or it could be once you get the Abyssal Seahorse the turtle is buffed up a bit.

The sea turtles went walking speed on land and I believe running speed in water I think, I don't think they went as fast as a 60% mount but I don't 100% remember so you may be right.

I tested it in the new Vashj'ir zone, and I only though to do it once I had my sea horse already. I also don't have a sea turtle on another character to test if the new boost is because of the sea horse or not. When I next go to Org I will head out to the water and test if it goes faster in old world as well.

Of course, I may just be crazy and this could be all in my head.. but I'm positive my turtle is swimming way faster than she did before.

I thought all mounts were set to be equivelent speeds. any land mount runs the same % and any flying mount the same as long as you had the training for the speed.

The sea turtle was not included. I had hoped she was but I tested it the night of the patch. On land she still goes walking speed.

i have done a few speed tests with my wife's account.

did a few "races" in the starting area of Vashj'ir shimmering grotto. at the surface is a large cresent shaped island, coords: 48,15

i flew both characters away from the island for about 30 seconds. then starting at the same spot, aimed both at the same spot on the island and hit the auto run keys at the same time.

310 flying is faster than the seahorse and is significantly faster than the seaturtle.

seahorse is much faster than the seaturtle.

using the script below

walking: 35%
running(no run spd inc): 100%
ground mount: 220%
seaturtle: 269%
seahorse: 371%
310 flying: 451%

Not entirely helpful (as I don't have the sea turtle) but I had a macro floating around that will tell you your char's current speed (as a % of normal running speed).

Just click it while you're moving. =D

/script ChatFrame1:AddMessage(string.format("Player speed: %d%%", (GetUnitSpeed("Player") / 7) * 100))
