Vyragosa - 13 times
Skoll - 4 Times
Dirkee - 3 Times

TLPD - 2!!!!!!!!!!



Just wanted to update again today.




Today, while playing Mass Effect with myself camped in Deepholm just for the heck of it:

Ooh I feel for you!

I don't have the expansion yet myself since I ordered the CE and amazon is being slow. So I decided on two things: get the "Stood in the fire" achievement and get TLPD.

I stand in Arathi for a whole day, and finally decide on the other thing on the list, find the ominous protodrake. So I fly to Bor's Breath in Storm Peaks, and wait 10 minutes. The, in guildchat, someone says: "Oh, I'm so lucky today. First I find Aotona, then I find the time-lost protodrake". I say: " What, when?" and he replies " oh, just two minutes ago near K3". I have a look, and find the body. I was so frustrated. Everyone was having fun playing Cataclysm, and the two things I set out to do suddenly seem so pointless and silly.
I was close to just give up and upgrade my account. But I'm glad I didn't. So I'm back in the Storm Peaks

I had freakin' bags full of Azure Dragonleather helms before I finally saw him, helped 3 people finish their 'chieve killing Vyra, and spotted Skoll for a pair of friendly hunters who chatted with me so I didn't go COMPLETELY insane.

I've been camping him for year lol...I've seen his corpse once...I have horrible luck with him, cause everyone who started camping after I did, would get him in less than a week. I've killed Vyra I dunno how many times, Dirke a few times, and I've tamed Skoll 2x, tagged him...numerous times...and killed him a couple of times...hopefully you'll have better luck than me.

Vyragosa again just now.

I got mine after three weeks. The first time NPC scan went off I thought I'd have a heart attack, but unfortunately someone else managed to tag him first. Thanks to careful record keeping of mostly dead Vyragosas (and one dead TLPD) spottings I had a feeling TLPD was probably getting ready for another spawning as another week rolled to a close. So when NPC scan went off again I spun around, quickly flying a little east then changing my mind and flew west instead... heard my husband pull in the driveway... spotted TLPD flying at me... started chanting "please please please please please"... heard my husband open the door... nailed TLPD and hit slowfall... continued pelting TLPD as I was still falling... felt my husband leaning over my shoulder... killed TLPD... looted... suddenly jolted forward as my husband patted me on the back and congratulated me.

It was like the game suddenly thought, "oh shoot, husband's home... better give out the TLPD before the husband hacks me."

I didn't know about this site when I was camping TLPD, but this guy has compiled exactly the information I was scouring several websites for.

I hope i only have to wait 3 weeks. I have my computer running in my life's background with this one about 3-4 hours a day. Nothing this morning, perhaps I'll nab another Vyra later tonight...

Vyragosa again, spawned at Brynhildar village.

4 times for Vyra now...

What's odd though, is that my Silverdragon doesn't POP until I mouse over Vyra, and my NPCSCAN didn't even go off (i checked 5 min prior and Vyra wasn't cached..) but then after I killed Vyra, she was Cached again... Odd things..

SilverDragon's always done that for me. I think the addon's sorely outdated. I'll never have SD pop up on its own, I have to mouse over the rare in order to see it. Which kind of defeats the purpose since if I'm mousing over the mob, chances are I know it's there. x)

I mainly have SilverDragon installed as a spare tire. I've never had an issue with NPCScan, but SD's the backup just in case.

I'll reinstall NPCSCAN, see if that might help.

If you are killing Vyra, you are doing it right, just keep looking. I got my third TLPD the other day before Cata, and I had been herbing with that DK along that path for weeks.. You gotta just keep looking.

I found it was usually about a 12 hour timer, if you are killing Vyra then you kinda control it.

Got Vyragosa again this morning At least I'm a goblin now and i'll have some more company in the guild chat during my camping sessions.

I really would like to see Cata content, but alas I'm making myself do this. I think it will take approx 2 weeks if i'm lucky, I figure I can catch Vyragosa about 50% of the spawns (i got 3 of the last 4), and that I hope TLPD spawns about once a week. Very wishful thinking though.

Agreed, if you're the one resetting the spawn timer it's much easier to prepare for the next approximate spawn time. Plus you don't have to waste 12 hours waiting for a potential spawn, you can go off and do something else for half a day.

Any help next time I'm online will be greatly appreciated from anyone who is willing . Hecks, I will even help YOU camp for 2 rare CATA spawns, and i'll throw in a ball of yarn, a lukewarm human toe, and 1500g.

Yeah I like that site alot, the guy seems a bit obsessed over this TLPD but I can understand why. Its the thrill of the hunt at its work

After being the only player in Storm Peaks for 2 hours, Vyragosa spawned at the Waterfall. Again...

At least there was a lvl 78 hunter there whom I gave him a good dps helm that dropped from Vyra.

Don't get discouraged ... killing Vyra = you're doing SOMEthing right. Now ya just have to continute your prayers to the RNG gods.

You're camping the rarespawn of a rarespawn. You have no sanity. You leave it at the zone every time you enter Storm Peaks. I know, I was there. That hunt drove me off the edge when I did little but circle that zone for, well, I don't know how long. Poor Sochi. I saw nothing of him though, just Vyra a few times, alive and dead. And then one night, fairly late, TL flew overhead. And I was on foot, around the Engine, bothering the rhinos. My mount button had gone invisible let me tell you. There's a topic on it somewhere on the boards. Or ask the guild, they'll remember my lack of sanity.

And then, some weeks later when Shaon was of level, I tried for it again. For a couple weeks, I circled, finding Vyra alive and three times did I see TL, dead in the snow each time. Realizing the slippery slope I was headed down as I got obsessive, I stopped seeking.

I wish you luck, I wish you patience. But don't go crazy. If I've learned anything about rares in this game, they are seldom there when you want them to be and seem to show up when we least expect it.

So lastly, I wish you perseverance. Be tenacious.

I think too late We'll see how many its going to take. I'm waiting for him to show up now, been a bit over 8 hours. it would be nice if he would spawn soon so i can do something else rather than check this computer ever 10 minutes or so

~eventually i'll win. i've put too much into this so far to quit now. it will be my greatest achievement ever in warcraft, thats for sure.
