If you were to suddenly win the million-dollar lottery, what is it that you would you do with all the money?



I would take my parents on a vacation to whatever location happened to tickle their fancy. While on vacation I would then surprise them with a very large sum of the lotto money to use for whatever they so wished. I would also be sure to look around for reputable charities to donate too (I'm partial to animal charities especially). Whatever money was left over I would put away for a rainy day and/or emergencies. (...Running out of mint chocolate chip ice cream would be the only emergency non-emergency. ;D)

Depends on how much money it was.

If it was just one million, I'd not start throwing money around, I'd just put it somewhere so I could live of the interest.

Let's say, you can get 4% interest. 1.000.000,- € x 4% = 40.000,- €
In germany, we have to pay 30% tax on interest. 40.000,- € - 30% = 28.000,- €
Divide that by 12 months, it will leave you with 28.000,- € : 12 = 2.333,33 €

It's not that much, but you could make a decent living.
That's what I would do.

Pay off my schooling bills, secure an apartment, and allow myself the luxury of getting a pet (since I could afford it then).

Probably would save some of it, or use some of it to take a trip overseas since I've never left the US in my life >>;

I'd spend it on getting one of those supercomputers... Imagine WoW on that thing... It would be just like my current one, only that I'd have a room full of computers too. Totally kickass...

I'd pay off my bills, get myself out of any debt I have, and invest most of the rest into something that accrues interest so that, like Karathyriel, I could live off the interest alone. Anything not invested would go towards a down-payment on a house.

Say it was 12 mill.

10mill into the bank, allow it to accrue interest. Allow said accrual to be transfered to a "spillover" account, the main amount being unable to be touched. (This prevents withdrawals and wastage)

take $500,000 and invest in BLIZZARD
take $500,000 and invest in Microsoft
take $500,000 and invest in Google
the remaining $500,000 would be, comfortable house shopping. (anything with 3-5 bedrooms, garage, 1/2 kitchens. 2/3 bathrooms. MASSIVE loungeroom. Aircon, serious Foxtel/Net wiring. Setup widescreen TV to act as computer moniter. Enjoy WoW in MEGA view.)

Next year, start paying each parent a seperate monthly allowance equal to 1/4 the "Spillover".

What cash is not used, gets transfered back into the main account to increase yearly accrual.

I'm a petrol head, so i guess i would spend a bit on the cars i really like

Save it to pay off my soon-to-be college debt and let it gather interest, but buy myself a nice house and customize it to my heart's content. Same goes for a car and computer. X3 But mostly I'd hoard it away and go easy on the spending. I like to think I'm good with money.

I would buy a house, a new car, a new computer, put enough into a savings account for my kids colledge tuition. If there was extra after that I'd have a custom game room, theater room, et. al. that luxuries.

Immedietly take a cruise around the world to get away from long lost loved ones and friends who think I owe them money. And while on board pay off the mortgage on the house, car, and then invest the rest.

buy that litle farm i always dreamd of and start a animal sanctuary for old and abused animals
put some in somthing that would make me money and get one big aquarium tank with lots of fishes and plants

I would buy a nuclear submarine, and start subsea cruises. I'm certain lots of people would be interested.

Plus, with the whole nuclear part, I can do whatever I want to!

I'd also try buy beachfront property and set-up a SCUBA resort or buy a coffee farm and sell my own brand/roast of coffee.
