It says it buffs magic, but does that include fire and nature damage from our traps and abilities? If not, is there really a point to this ability?

How about, Serpent sting nature damage, and especially if you're survival, Explosive shot fire damage, and Black Arrow fire damage, as well as Arcane Shot's damage. But these pets are not necessarily designed to benefit us specifically, but rather an entire bg/raid.

Guess that means it also effects Cobra Shots nature damage.

Of course there's a poijnt to this ability! You need to remember, after all, that hunters are made to be buff-bringers. If your raid doesn't have any warlocks or boomkin for the magic increase, then you can make your mage-classes happy by bringing a Windserpent or Dragonhawk.
