I made an Orc hunter and I was wondering what kind of pet I should get. I'm looking for a dps pet. I have had a hunter before but I chose my pet randomly now I want to make sure I get a good pet. I'm doing PvP and I'm going to do arenas, BGs, and raids. Please give a suggestion and some detail on the pet. I need experienced hunter or people that know something about choosing a pet.

Wasps are popular in PvP for their anti-stealth poison, and spiders for their webbing. If you're BM, silithid's vemon web is basically a better version of the spider.

First things first, what is your current level/spec? That will have a lot to do with the options you have available to you right now. I'm feeling lazy and don't even wanna make suggestions if you can't even get them.

I've tanked a few pugs where people have been boosting Crabs as Arena pets, cause of pin tho. Them, Gorillas and Spiders seem to be the most commonplace pvp/arena pets when I take note of such players while idling in Dal or Org. Ocasionally still see a Scorpid too. Tanking for a lowbie would probably be a bear, crab, scorpid or crocolisk, depending what race you roll and how far you're willing to haul nekked lowbie but for a pet. There's also turtles, now that I remember it. In the Belf starting zone.
For dps you could also go with a wolf or moth, if cats and raptors aren't your thing. Or even go for a different pet, like an Owl from the nelf starting zone. While not a ferocity pet, it is pretty unique at lower levels.

Eh, if you want a pet that could help do all of these things, I'd have to say go for a hyena.
Ferocity, so they do good DPS.
Family skill is a hamstring, useful in PvP.

It makes quite a bit of aggro too.

I'm thinking a cat or bear which one is better for BG, arena, and instances?

I'd have to say the bear, because of it's charge and family skill. Sure, cats can deal more damage, but the bear can take much , much more... adn harm multiple enemies at once! (Thunderstomp and its family skill) Good for keeping aggro

I had three, a wolf, a cat, and a bear when leveling.
The hardest thing was to keep them all at max level!
The bear was good for solo'ing etc, however if your leveling with a friend a higher dps pet will do you better.
Meh just go with the bear/croc if you want to be most efficient. If not go with whatever pet you like best!

I will be doing soloing until like level 16 and then do BG, arena, raids, and instances. Which is the best pet for this.

I preferred the wolf/cat if I wasn't questing.
Particularly at the lower levels, being BM with the wolf, I dominated PVP. My pet could easily solo people haha. I would camp below the Alliance Graveyard in WSG, and send him up the wall (Inky my black wolf). He would charge up there and dominate.
I had wrecking ball by the time I was 20! HAHA.
Id say for instances, BG's, Raids etc, I'd go for a dps pet.
You can pick a pvp pet like a Spider/Bird/Crab, but I reckon having a DPS pet and just bursting em down works well.

I just got a devilsaur today and am already quite amazed at the HUGE crits he's getting. If you're at the right level (55ish) for a devilsaur, I'd say go for it. It will do good damage in raids/instances/BGs. Well, actually I can't say for sure how it would do in raids/PvP, but I'm guessing pretty well.

Not to mention its monstrous strength buff (after using monstrous bite racial skill) makes it even bigger than it already is. Pair that with Bestial Wrath and you have a huge, red, hulking, angry devilsaur chomping down on someone's head.
There are my two pennies!

id say a wasp but they arent available until higher lvls.
You might wanna try a carrion bird. its a Ferocity pet and the familiy skill works well in anny enviroment (reduses ap to any enemy close and hurts the main target). Great against those pesky melee in bgs.
Also once you gain Bestial wrath they get HUGE! which i find a +. in pvp specially.
But if you want a Pure dps machine in pvp id say, raptor/devilsaur, cat, wasp(once you get high enough to tame one).
If you would consider cunning pets there are quite a few options that does very well. + if speced into it, gets out of stuns and fears much faster than anny other pets, makeing em go back to munching on the target much faster. You can also put a point in imp dash, this will make the cd short enough that your pet will always be under dash in combat, no one will manage to run away from it(not without blasting a cd or extra skill).
Birds of prey: Dissarms. this will anger anny melee in pvp, and other hunters. + they also get fairly big.
Spider/silithid (grab a silithid if your bm) : Web, Silithids add poison to the web so basically just a better version of the spider. the web stops the enemy for 4 sec.
Chimeras have frostbreath. and its a short cd so it should keep the enemy slowed most of the time.
Serpents are great as anticaster and antistealthers thanks to its dot poison. Though if you Freeze trap often this might be more annoying than helpfull as it will brake the trap.
- Most of these skills you want to keep under controll for when YOU need it(stunns and disarms mostly). this means you will have to put it out of autocast and manually manage it yourself.

Akyo seems to know what's up!

Those are all great pet suggestions.
This may sound weird, but I actually *like* micro-managing my pets. It makes me feel more like a hunter when I give my pet commands to follow. It's more engaging than just turning on auto-attack, then standing back. /yawn Obviously there are certain ones that don't need to be managed manually, such as short-cooldown skills like demoralizing screech. But when you have something like a bird of prey, it's oh-so-fun when you decide when to disarm that warrior barreling down on you that thinks he's got you beat. It takes a lot more awareness and correct timing to do it that way, but I find it much more enjoyable.
I found the wasp to be a very good PvP pet, especially against rogues (anti-stealth poison + armor debuff, yay!). However, I had to abandon mine because I couldn't stand the way its butt seemed to bend right in the middle as it flew. Yeah, I really am that picky about things like that. I wish they'd make the silithid wasps tameable, I think they look awesome.

I find being BM with Bestial Wrath + DPS pet + Intimidation stun = win
Last night a warlock was saying in trade - "STEP RIGHT UP AND DUEL ME. IF you win I give YOU 200g, if I WIN you give me 50g".
I logged my hunter.
With 1 second left on the duel starter - BestialWrath/Kill Command/Call of the Wild/Rabid/Trinkets/Berserking/Rapidfire - then stun with intimidation as soon as the duel started.
Warlock in full pvp gear, DEAD in 3 seconds.
Easiest 200g ever
Thanks Spirit beast

I am not anywhere near 55 yet but when I get there I plan on getting the blue and black devilsaur so I'm looking for a good pet that will stay with me from level 10 to 55.

Here is a list of the available pets from levels 1-10 that are ferocity.
http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/browse/ ... 0&offset=0
Something like a moth might be neat if you don't mind the trek to the Draenei starting zone. They have a racial that increases their damage by 10% and heals them. That could be useful in both PvP and PvE for added damage + survivability. Or, raptors have always sort of been a staple ferocity pet, with their painful Slash racial ability. Tallstriders could also fare well in both PvP and PvE when their racial causes enemies within 8(?) yards to miss their next move. So you might want to look into something like that, that has a useful ability in battlegrounds, questing, and instancing, and that is ferocity for good damage.
