(RP) Badass or no Badass?

I've been thinking about my Blood Elf Hunter for a moment this evening and I thought, "Hm, I can't really come up with a strong story for her as an Amazon-ish pseudo-Beastmaster, so what else could I make her... perhaps I could make her an Archaeology geek." And then it hit me: I could probably come up with a less improbable backstory for her if she isn't an especially hardened adventurer.

However, is there really a place for non-badasses in level 85? Would making a female character that isn't hypercompetent be mistaken for misogyny?

Needless to say, this could affect her pet roster, especially since her roster right now is full of intimidating beasts.

So... amazon or archaeology geek?

Honestly i would go with archaeology geek and keep the initimidating pets. Think about it, she's out digging up precious items and needs some bodyguards? If I saw a geeky blood elf with a large corehound drooling while she digs I would probably avoid her.

Competition is fierce! Knowledge is power! She can be both :D

I'd avoid the amazon. That's typically a sign of a worthless RPer, even if the RPer is actually good, having an AMAZING AND AWESOME character tends to lead people to avoid you. That's why my Death Knight is roleplayed as emotionally insecure, and sad about what she did under Arthas' command, and not a mindless superpowered killing machine. She'd avoid killing anyone as long as possible, and probably wouldn't even fight except for self-defense, or to aid her friends.

Archeology geek sounds like a lot of fun. I can just imagine playing a character inspired by Indy Jones... Awesome.

Blood Elves arent really Amazon material.....TBH.

Now a Night Elf, i could see that. But Blood Elf? No way.

Amazons are boring, and so '60s-'70s B-movie!
Go for Archaeology geek, it sounds like a lot more fun and like a more believeable character.

Yeah, Archy geek sounds like it'd be fun. Not to mention you have a lot of options for the pets' personalities. Like was said above, really aggressive and territorial pets would be pretty fun to have around someone who's timid and focusing on ancient lore and such.

Then again, whenever I RP, I absolutely have to have some type of comedic element there, so the pet thing could be however I suppose.

Interesting points, but how would being level 85 play into it? Would it be awkward if she was actually as competent of a fighter as someone of a lower level that is made for war?

Being level 85 does not make you automatically badass, it just means you learnt a good deal of special abilities of your class, you can be still rubbish at using them - which puggers in new heroics can be a great example of. ;)

GEEK! Like mentioned above, it's certainly a more believable and original character. Easier to be taken seriously, too!

Levels shouldn't affect anything however, especially in terms of roleplaying. My level 84 is a mere villager with nothing but a rotting fishin' rod to defend himself with. I've found him more fun to roleplay than my other characters! There's always, always room for a non-badass 85. Heck, everyone I've met is a badass 85 these days! A change is always refreshing.

Bring on the citizens, villagers, geeks and crafters! :)

As has been kind of mentioned, when you're RPing, levels don't really mean anything, they're just a game mechanic.

I'd definitely make her an archaeology geek. As mentioned, superish powered chars aren't as much fun to be around. Hell, the idea of RPing and arch geek hunter even sounds appealing and fun to me and I may roll one such char myself.
