Here's my dilemma: I want a raptor for the debuff it provides (I pride myself on being at least SOMEWHAT useful ), but none of the skins really strike me.

I much prefer the old-world model, but the weird slanted eyes make me feel like something is very wrong with them, and I downright dislike the pink one.

The Outland model doesn't seem animal-like--not enough for me, anyway. It's too ravager-esque with that blank expression--and then there's the fact that the lower jaw comes to a really narrow point, which someone pointed out and now I CANNOT UNSEE : /

So I have two questions:

* Does the raptor debuff refresh itself at 3 stacks still (I remember there being bugs with various stacking buffs sharing DR with stuns or something, although I think it was mostly a Ravager issue)?

* Which raptor would you recommend for me, as far as looks go? Here is my hunter's image on the Armory.

Despite not having clicked with the ones I've tried in the past, I'd still like to try one out, because I REALLY like the look of that debuff--I'm aware it's something most tanks will have, but there's still quite a few situations where I'd like it.

The blue raptors have the worst eyes, in my view. The colouring is nice, but those eyes have always looked...off for me. More so than the other colours. Personally I love the adorable squinty look of the green raptors. The red ones have very nice colouration as well, and I find the teal eyes don't draw as much attention to the pupils. I am very fond of the black ones, and think one of those would match you the best, though I'm not sure if the eyes bug you on those or not.

Personally, I'm not a fan of raptors at all really. I only ever bonded with one on my draenei hunter alt, and that was along ago. However, I absolutely adored the raptor I had, which was one of the above colorations.

Vephriel--thanks for pointing out that the eyes vary!! I can see myself now going around to every single one (or well, perhaps ModelViewer ) checking raptor eyes >.> When you say the black one, do you mean the Outland model, or the Takk-gray Old World?

I am also a fan of the black skin as Rikaku linked, though my favourite Raptor skin would be the Takk grey one you mentioned. I think either would suit you nicely.

Personally I really like the blue one, and the grey Takk one, both would suit your character with her dark hair. There's a mini-pet with the takk skin as well, so you can have your pet's offspring/sibling running after you when you have your pet out, which looks adorable.

My mind went to the green ones as an immediate match, but any of the black ones would work as well. All I can recommend is actually taming one and running with it for a little while. I didn't expect to like the pink one, but she grew on me and is now among my go-to pets from my expanded stable (and not just because of her ability).

I'll admit I have a bit of a soft spot for the Old-World green raptors. I had one for a while but gave it an unfitting name and ended up abandoning. I'll try a Venomhide first (I have the mount, so it can match--kind of ) and then if I don't like it, re-tame the green.

Incidentally, any ideas for a name for the dark old-world model (the Venomhide one)?

Also--(Zul'Gurub Quest spoilers here)if they ever bring Ohgan'aka back, and she's hostile & tameable, I WILL tame her--simply because I absolutely adore her and am frustrated/annoyed at the way the quest chain just drops, leaving her alone

Oh, I was referring to the old world black raptor (Venomhide model) in my initial post. ^^ And yes, each raptor seems to have its own eyes, which is a neat little detail. I'd definitely recommend taking a closer look in WMV.

So, quite a few people are recommending the Venomhide model! I'll snag one now and grab a few screenies, and ask for opinions

This is how it looks with me. I do like the overall effect; the bead strings etc also match the boots, which is cool! I don't know yet if the pinkish on the feathers will bother me, I'll have to play with the raptor for a bit & see--for now it at least matches my gear.

What really MIGHT bother me, though, is the fact that the pupils on this guy are for some reason set waaaay back, giving him an uber-crosseyed expression when viewed from the front

ROFLMAO! I don't really like either raptor models, but like you I wanted to cover all the basic pet buffs in my stable. Now that's all I'm ever going to see when I bring him out. Maybe I'll rename him Googley.

Personally for raptors i've always liked the green model, and its the only one without feathers/beads, giving it a more feral look. Ratporskingreen

dark and gloomy and what if they are cross eyed it all adds to charm in my honest opinion

I don't know what you think about a cunning vs ferocity pet but Serpents have the same ability as the raptors. They are just cunning pets instead. Just a thought

I wouldn't call those pink feathers, Acherontia. They look more like bloodied feathers. Makes him look like a bloody scythe of a raptor

I tried both of these too. I really don't LOVE any of them : / I've tried the Takk skin too, not sure which to pick >.> Predicament is intensifying

I love the eyes & lack of adornment on the green one but the color throws me off, even though I love it on my Devilsaur o.o

Well, are there any tamable snakes that catch your eye? They provide the same debuff as raptors. The main difference between the pet families is that raptors are Ferocity while snakes are Cunning.
