Hey i'm making this guide so we can all have an easy to reach naming guide for our new beloved rares, post the names u'r using or suggesting and i'll try to update all.

terropene Leidenschaft = German for fire and passion...didn't know about Passion but oh well i like the sound of it.
Torkoal = fire turtle in pokémon
Neminisis = i recall reading that name here somewhere...i like it ^^
Testudo = latin for turtle and an old romant army formation
Brûlécaille. A mix of two french words: "brûle" (burn) and "écaille" (scale)
Raphael = ninja turtle with red bandana
Tephra = micture from ash and other substances after an vulcaninc eruption
Bowser....how could i have forgot to add this?
Abaddon - Anglicized form of Greek Abaddōn, meaning "destruction, ruination." In the New Testament bible, this is the name of the place of destruction. And it is a name given to the angel of the bottomless pit, the Destroyer Apollyon.
Pyralis = Greek for fire

Jadefang Esmeralda = kinda obvious refence to Emerald
"Fluorspar", green stone/gem/mineral nice name btw
Laima - Lithuanian name meaning "luck." In mythology, this is the name of a goddess of fortune.
What language is Jaida? did the teacher ask. Student answers: Some language. Correct! jade in some language. For those who don't know what it means and like a mysterious name

Madexx Oh god what to do with this one...truly defers on colour...Morphexx?
Serqet and variants = ancient egypt scorped godess of magic
Morpheus for the black and the brown one
Obstrykken", (helped in my own "Name that Pet" thread) a cross between "Stryke" (in turn a variation on the word "strike") and obsidian. Note this is for the black version
Kachina = Native American for spirit of desert

Sambas Aslan = most awesome lion in existence
"Loki", the Nordic trickster god.
Altan = Mongolian for gold
Russel it seems to fit
Shahan = Persian for King/queen
Leo, any explanation needed?

Karoma Magatha = leadster of the grimtotem tribe
Brumétoile. Same as below, "Brume" (mist) and "étoile" (star).

Ghostcrawler Mercury, the name speaks for itself
Ocypode the genus name of species that GC named his screen name after
Cancer", the crab from the zodiac
Devious well dev and it has a nice roll to it ^^
Wahmenitu = Aztec for spirit in the water...who knows such dead languages anyways? ^^
Quadrata - Ocypode quadrata is the name of a species of ghost crab once described as an "occult, secretive alien from the ancient depths of the sea."
Aquamarine = doubtful there's an explanation needed

Chromaggus Kyôn after the KYON ORTHROS (or Orthus), which was a two-headed, serpent-tailed dog, a brother of monsters such as Kerberos and the Khimaira.
Thomas = the meaning of that name is twin...only just learned at school
Tempus cause he's associated with time
Uruloke - Urulóki is a species of a non winged fire breathing dragon

Zora Nora well i just liked the sound of it but i don't like to copy names

Lord Kri Kripy, he seems like a sinister and powerful being to me...Go Master of all silithids!


i'll update later! Btw guys be sure to post names for all the cata rares not that i didn't mention Shadowclaw for example there shouldn't be some named for him as long as it cata stuff...don't want to suddenly get thousand names for Loque

Serqet (Serket, Selqet, Selket, Selkit, Selkis); was the ancient Egyptian scorpion goddess of magic. As with other dangerous goddesses, she was both a protective goddess, and one who punished the wrong doers with her burning wrath.

A name I thought about naming Terrorpene was Testudo which is Latin for turtle, and is also an old Roman military formation.

Also if I get Sambas I'll probably name him Roman :3

My names night be a little odd...my Horde hunters pets all have pretty nerdy names.

Terrorpene I named Raphael because he is red (on fire lol) and so he matches the red bandana wearing teenage mutant ninja turtle!

Ghostcrawler I named Ocypode; the genus name of the species of crab that GC named his sceen name after.

I havent found a nerdy name for her Karoma yet

Named in order of tame.

Oh, and for Ghostcrawler, I still like the name Devious. It matches his little spiky model, and, well, Dev.

My Hunter pets usually get fandom-y names:

Terrorpene - Bowser from the Mario series, 'cause he's a spiky, fire ball spittin' turtle.
Sambas - Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia, since they're both beautiful lions.

Karoma got the name Loki because he was a tricky little bugger and I thought it was funny.

I use babynames.com and use the advanced search to put in a meaning.

I chose Pyralis for Terropene. It's Greek and means "of fire".
I have chosen Shahan for Sambas when I get him, it's Persian and means "King/Queen".
I have chosen Wahmenitu for Ghostcrawler when I get him, I believe it's Aztec and means "spirit in the water".
I have chosen Kachina for my red Madexx, I believe it's Native American(?) and means "spirit".
Karoma is being named Cloud after my border collie Cloud.

For my Jadefang i named her Jaida which stands for jade in some language
For my Sambas i named him Leo just coz it sounded simple and perfect for a lion
For my Chromaggus i went with the obvious Tempus since he is a creature associated with time:p

Chromaggus: Uruloke - Urulóki is the name of a sub-species of wingless fire-breathing dragon, also known as the fire-drake. They appear in Tolkien's Middle-Earth and were probably sired by Glaurung. A single Urulóki is called an Urulokë.

Good names on list 1, but I'd spellcheck them Abaddon, Mercury, Leidenschaft, and Nemesis all need a correction--just so people don't realize after the fact and have to use a scroll!

ooops abaddon and mercury wrong? Ne-mini-sis is intended though :Pwell facepalm for the other two *facepalm* other three *double facepalm*

Doesn't just suit the red one. I wanted something to do with spirit of the desert. So just settled for spirit.
