Exotic to tame...........!?!?!?!?!?!

Hello fellow Petopians,
(if this has already been posted and I missed it sorry

)
It was late last night when a friend starting talking about a pet he couldn't call from his stable for long enough to actually feed/use mend pet on. "Scratches head"... I ask him what spec was he in and what pet was he trying to call ?
His reply made me sigh at first, 'SV and a Core Hound'..? But I said, that's not possible. Switch back to BM and you can use it, as corehounds are exotic! "But, I tamed it as SV!" he protests,

Sorry I really did think he was going around the bend, you can't tame exotics as non BM I said....
Well it seems I owe him an apology as indeed you can, I switched over to my alt lvl 80 hunter and flew over to MH to test it as MM.
Here's the proof...

- MM Spec - Taming a Corehound.

The pet does indeed disappear as soon as it's tamed and you can briefly call it out before it vanishes again. So Blizz.....>!?!?!?

Doesn't say Exotic on the Beast Lore either, interesting O.o

I believe this is a bug and should be reported before it gets exploited. We already have Blizzard watch us about the pet appearances.

I kept trying to use one for my terrorpene tame, then figured out it was the wrong one in MH. They only summon for half a second.

Huh... Well that could be handy if you're flying from point A to point B and fly over a unexpected rare exotic while you're not in BM spec. :O

I admit, I do wonder whether this was intentional. Sure you can't use the pet not being a BM, but it would help those people in their non-BM spec who just came across the OMG RARE OF A LIFETIME!
Probably not intentional, but it sure would be cool if it was.

Praying it's not intentional.....cause thats what Dual Spec is for and it takes like 5 seconds to switch over. We dont have to worry about Mana either anymore...soo.....

EXCUSE ME FOR WANTING TO SAVE FIVE SECONDS, GAWD.
It would be pretty silly to tame exotics when not in BM spec. Then again, there probably are evil hunters that kill exotic rares as they aren't BM spec and they don't want to be...

Yeah it's most likely a bug, but I hardly think it's exploitable--it's only one mob that we know of? And the worst you can do is tame a pet, not use it
Has anyone checked if this is the only one, out of curiosity? Might be a hint as to whether it was intentional or not.

I sincerely doubt it's intentional - considering how Blizz has been making the game easier in terms of avoiding dumb mistakes, making it possible to tame a pet for a spec you might not even have seems extremely unlikely.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking. Strange

It's only a bug or exploit IF you can use it after you tame it.
If it doesn't do anything, then it's fine.

Yeah... intentional or not, I don't see this as an exploit - back when dual spec cost 1000g I would have viewed it differently, but since the price was slashed, failing to plunk down the measly 100g for dual spec should be seen as more of a minor oversight than a hard limit on your game experience IMO (given that the tamed exotic will remain in your stable until you get around to correcting that small oversight).
The more you think about it, denying exotic tames to non-BM hunters would be like if we still had to learn our weapon skills... and not having learned the skill for a weapon (that was otherwise usable by the class) actually prevented a player from even looting the weapon.
It especially makes sense when you consider how high the minimum level for controlling exotics is - at least this way lvl 10-68 hunters don't have to wait till 69 to start accumulating their wishlist pets...

"not in BM spec"... these words, I hear them, but they make no sense.

Pst... it's only ten gold now, available at level 30.
Anyone who uses gold as an excuse not to have dual spec is messed up in the head. Assuming they have a reason for needing/wanting dual spec of course.

Say you're MM or SV for dailies or something and fly over... let's say Karoma. On my server, if there's not someone at one of his spawn locations already, there will be shortly.
As I've found out first hand, the few seconds to swap over to BM (I'm MM and BM for my two dual specs) for an unexpected rare exotic, can cost one the tame.
The story: I was doing my dailies with a friend when I found him for the second time (after a failed first try) completely by surprise. I had just dropped off my flyer to change specs when another hunter dropped in and snagged him.
I gave him a congrats though. lol (Yes, I could have tagged and trapped, then swapped to my BM spec but the rush of finding rares like Karoma tends to make me overlook those simple little strategies.

)

I'm afraid I have to correct you.
It's a bug AND exploit if its something Blizzard goofed in coding and never intended to happen. Whether it does anything or not. Blizzard, in all the time WoW has been around, NEVER has allowed non-BMs to tame exotics. Therefore, this is a bug and by trying to tame exotics while not BM is exploiting the bug and could put your account at risk just like continuing to try and tame buff-appearance pets.
Moral? A bug is a bug and an exploit is an exploit no matter if its harmful or not. Just dont do it or you could end up the one that gets banned.

The way I've always seen it it's an exploit if Blizzard says it is. If not, then it's not an exploit. (Unless people start to abuse it.) This looks like a simple bug that might've been overlooked before release. Don't think it's game breaking since I highly doubt this will be lasting long, but Blizzard may be more greatful to learn of this then anything. Don't want dem pesky MM and Surv hunters runnin' round with dem Core Hounds!
...Ahem. Yeah. It'll be hot fixed, even possibly today. :3
