I was the same way just a short while ago, then I found Gondria and my mind changed. After her I wanted Skoll and I adore him.
It seems to make a difference once you actually spend time camping one and then having it by your side. I'm a convert. :3

I have Gondria, but I almost never use her, so yeah, Spirit Beasts are'nt really my favorites.
Besides, when Loque was the only one, I HATED them. He's just so ugly.

I told myself I'd never tame another Spirit Beast, but everytime one came out, I'd break that. Loque is the only one I've ever really kept. I like him because he's the original and a LAZER KITTY PEW PEW PEW. They're beautiful, but I don't really see the point in having more then one of the same type of pet. (Multiple cats, wolves etc.)

If I ever tame a spirit beast, it would be Gondria, only because it uses the only cat model I like (mount). But to be honest, I don't feel the burning desire to use one. I am rather liking my devilsaur, silithid, and turtle right now. Maybe if they release a skin that really appeals to me, I'll go after one. But I like neither the color blue nor pets I can see through (and spirit beasts are all one or the other). I never liked the ghost saber for that reason, either.

I have Loque and really like him but I also haven't been BM for ages.
I was never particularly interested in him at all to be honest, had no intentions of wasting time camping Sholazar to tame him. However, my wife and I had been puttering around there, I was questing I think and she was mining, and I logged off. Less than a minute later she's frantically calling me "the spirit beast is here!!" and demanded I come back and get him. So I hesitantly did so and was glad for it, he's wonderful to look at and great in action. It's a nice unique model (not just different particle and density effects on existing models) and I had fun running around with him, particularly doing the Horde quests in Zul'Drak - as a Troll Hunter, with Loque as my pet, questing in Zul'Drak was just wonderful from an in-character perspective.
But the others, I have less than zero interest in whatsoever.

I have no interest in getting a spirit beast because I'm quite happy with the pets I have now.

Hmm, I only like two of the skins, otherwise I never even bring out the spirit kitty I do have. Their dps is so low, I'm thinking about skipping them entirely on my 2nd hunter. Moonfire is really just an rp pet. sad laugh

If there is a spirit beast i want right now, It's Loque. Hes the only one i like. Always thought Gondria and Arcturis are ugly, and skoll is the last option, but i dont think he worth camping.

I felt the same way for a long time, rubybeam. And I agree that it's once you actually spend time camping for them, that you really realize they're beauty and elusiveness.
However, I rarely use my BM spec, so my Arcturis kind of spends his days sitting in the stables. After taming him, and using him for about a week, I became disenchanted with it. I still love him, and will keep him, I just don't feel the connection as strongly as some of my other pets.

I also was never really that interested...
However once you have one AND SEE IT IN ACTION you are converted for life. Sure Spirit Beasts are around a bit, but I see over 9000 wolves a day too
1/2 the glory of a spirit beast is the thrill of the hunt, 1/2 the glory is seeing how amazing they look once they are yours! I never liked Skoll much, but once I tamed him I fell in love.
Methinks ppl who say "I think Spirit beasts are silly" just say that cause they don't have one

I was one of those who just couldn't understand the whole "epic" thing surrounding Loque'nahak. Sure, beast looked awesome, but it didn't quite appeal to me. When Loque was first introduced, there was an uproar for him, but not one I took part in. I hadn't actually experienced what it was in taming one of these beauties and so thought they went pretty much the way of the Legendary Pokemon - pretty to look at, not much else in between XD
I had found Gondria and Skoll, couldn't afford to keep either of them (needed the two slots to test raid pets), Skoll I regretted the most because I totally have a thing for the starved wolf look, makes them look and sound so much more dangerous than the oldworld wolves. And then decided BM would be Laz's offspec (soon to be mainspec back then) and I wanted myself the big green dino that stalked the Basin. I think what suckered me into the whole hype surrounding Loque is the whole double fallout Laz had with the overgrown Yoshi. Loque spawned seven hours later, I tamed him, sent him into attack on a whim to celebrate...and that roar he gave out...*fans self*
I started to understand his appeal far more than I had previously - so much so, my subsequent Troll Hunter alt had to have him too =D

I wasn't really interested until Arcturis was added.
I thought Loque was pretty, but it wasn't enough to make me want to camp him. When I saw Arcturis, I had to have him. It's like having a pet druid. XD I occasionally think about camping Loque, but haven't gone through with it yet.

Ruby, I say get yourself one

Then see if you like it
Its a great feeling, and lets all admit it - we love it when other hunters whisper us "WOAH nice pet!"

I never wanted a spirit beast either. In fact, most of the exotic beasts do not interest me. However, one day when I was flying over Storm Peaks my macro went off and it was Skoll, so I decided to tame him since I had an empty stable slot.
He is cool looking. I hardly get a chance to use him, but I'll go BM for my random daily every once in a while for giggles and bring him along.
If they make a spirit beast bird I'll will dump Skoll so fast for a glowy bird. >.>

I think 'Never wanting to tame a Spirit Beast' in your train of thought can really be explained by; i don't think that because u just see them too much right now
Sorry but sadly that sounds less like you're not interested and either more like you've just never had one yourself or think of them as a fad pet. But then again 50% of the hunter population are into fad pets.
Hell I started a lv 20-25 fad around Echayeeke ally side on a server. Get one whisper one night, log out and then log in and there's 15+ hunters in the zone I'm currently at WITH THE LION. Didn't make me think of Deimos as any less special, didn't make me abandon him, and I snickered as people eventually started abandoning their lions and going with other fad cats. IE ghost saber etc.
You shouldn't really write off spirit beasts as something like that until you've had one yourself. I mean look at Rhinos, I loved and adored them. I thought they would make fantastic PVP pets for BM as their knock back was superbly useful and in WSG I could park my Rhino on the flag and hide in my Rhino.
But now they are useless and I unfortunately can never really bring myself to seriously want one outside of a temp pet :|
I mean at first I loathed the thought of STD cat- and a few people can probably testify to that when she was first revealed, but now I'm gonna go camp for her on my belf as idk the though of a poorly transparent purple ghost cat that shoots lazers appeals to me while I'm on Yas.
I would say before you check a pet entirely off your list, give it or a skin a go. You never know, you may find yourself wanting to tame one or keep it permanently instead of never taming it forever.

The problem with the logic of "I don't want one because I see them everywhere" is that you're going to see the same pets everywhere, whether or not it's a Spirit Beast.
Also, keep in mind that if you're seeing the SBs all over, it's likely in crowded places. Say, the Tournament Grounds or Dal. It's where people who aren't always spec'd BM might be tempted to pull their SB out to flaunt it.
It's like driving a Mercedes (or other fancy-dancy luxury car). The point is to have it so people SEE YOU WITH IT. I can't say it's a "fad". It takes way too much work to get them for it to be a fad. The serious Hunters who want to tame the pet for the thrill of the hunt and the glory of the achievement - they also get a SWEET pet.
I've had my Gondria since Sunday (okay, really really really early Monday) and I'm still in love. I was casual about leveling her to 80. She hit it today. I love watching her zip around and turn RED in Bestial Wrath.
I get it if you don't want to have one. Either the models or the idea don't appeal. And it's entirely likely that you could acquire one, use it, and still not like it. Personal preferences do vary, of course. But of the people running around Dal (or wherever) with their Spirit Beasts, how many of them are actually USING them consistently? And how many are just showcasing their pretty catch?
And really, who DOESN'T like walking through Stormwind (or wherever you Hordies hang out

) and seeing the lowbies come check out your pet? I think they're more a "status symbol" than a "fad". Though that doesn't make them sound that much better, either. Hehe.

As much as I admire these spirit beasts for their extreme appealing looks while looking at them in Petopia, I've never had any special interest for them. After all, as much as it makes a hunter want to jump off their chairs when their addon goes off or they plain spot these magnificent creatures, hasn't everyone gotten through that fiasco before when they see a pet they want other than those spirit beasts? In my realm, I have seen both cats and Skoll running with a hunter at least one time and the ghost bear about once or twice. I personally think they are way too popular and for that, their looks can eventually get old due to overuse.

Um Kamoodle; the difference between most pets you can tame, outside a select few, and spirit beasts, is that there is really no stress and grief involved. There's no need for camping days on end, weeks or months, praying to get as lucky as well I and a few other hunters have been.
That's usually why most people fall out of their seats, from sheer shock that they managed to be there at the right time and place for the spawn and actually get it.
I mean I was
shaking when I saw Krush. But it wasn't from excitement and it wouldn't have been from him being an exotic. but simply because in all my time playing Wrath. In all the time that it has been since launch day, that is the first time
ever I have seen Krush. Alive, Dead, Anything. No one on my realm evidently has tamed him.
Now, imagine that scenario for alot of peoplke that want a Spirit Beast. Because sadly there are alot of people who want one- but are still without.
Now the rush you can get from taming something that elusive? A core hound pre 70ish, with no lv 80 friend helping you stay alive. OR taming King Dred. OR solo taming King Krush and or Mosh, since at the time I tamed Mosh, he was one of only four devilsaurs that could run properly, even if not all the time.
I showed off Mosh as much as my spirit beasts, and at the time it was evident to tell him apart from other normal devilsaurs, because he could
run and afaik no other BM hunter had bothered to tame King Dred. But that doesn't mena I kept him just because of that. I kept him BECAUSE of how much struggle and strife I had to go through to obtain him.
I mean, if you had just seen a
level sixty mob take down a geared up 70 ench shaman AND wolves, well, wouldn't you do the same?
And mean you should know as well as anyone how much of a fad Devilsaurs were at first, black and bronze ones were
everywhere in Dal pre BM nerf
Every pet is a fad pet at one point in time or on varying servers. I even listed how Echayeeke became a fad pet, just because I told how I obtained him to some lowbie that whispered me. Tho who truly want a spirit beast will keep them, even if their DPS is less than great. Just like I kept Jareth even when at first I didn't love the bronze skin.
And yes I am guilty of showing off my pets while idling in Dal, but, who doesn't do that. With gear, with mounts, etc? We all have our vain points and times. And if you want an even better example, go stand in Kauros or whatever Landing in Dal. I've seen people flaunt mounts like you wouldn't believe.
