Have this item on my Druid sinse I faction changed. Wish I had it on my Undead Hunter. Makes you immune to damage for 10 seconds.

Hm, wonder if I still have that in my bank... Apparently it's not available anymore? Wowpedia says the quest was removed.

Almost every one of my higher level toons still have theirs, but hearing this makes me less likely to use it.

Terropene comes close to being THE pet you Alliance hunters were saving this item for, but with an option to successfully tame it, would you use it? For all we know in the near future there may be a garuntied fatal raid tame that the 10 second invulnerability may be the only option.

ya quest isn't obtainable anymore... but it is a nice alliance item

Would there be macro command that started a tame at the same time the belt was activated? If so, would the possible "banish" effect break the tame attempt?

Edit: Or, would challenging a warlock to a duel, starting a tame then getting banished cancel the tame?

Banish only works on demons and elementals. Can't use Banish to bug tames. :)

That takes care of the simple answer, but this does effect the user in a similar way.

You mean popping the belt while casting the tame? Won't work, as you can't use items while casting.

Haha that was the first thing I thought of when I started planning to tame Terrorpene on my dwarf... unfortunately I'd gone and wasted it back when I was trying to tame The Beast (back when we had the 15 second tame and that was still a hard tame)... still have that potion on a couple other toons I think, but they wouldn't have been nearly as cool of a match for Terrorpene as Bofors (happily, I was able to still get him at 81 without the potion).

Nice idea, but I'd be more inclined just to level up 'cause once you're 83/84 (and definitely 85, even with moderate gear) the tame is really easy. ^_^

I never did the quest for that item. I wonder if there'll ever be an "essential" time to use it hehe.

That's a great idea for an item to use. Pity it's no longer available from questing...

Once you are 85, the damage really isn't an issue anyway.

The belt is an item. It may not be effected by GCD. If you set up a macro to use the belt, then add the tame command, the belt may activate while you start the tame. If the belts personal banish effect kicks in, does that break the tame attempt?

But... the belt only absorbs 500 damage. What beast would you want to tame that does 500 damage to you? I mean, I'm sure it's nice at lower levels, but I don't recall a single tame at lower levels that couldn't be fixed with a freezing trap...

The belt is an engineering item, it has a chance to fail. One of the fails is that you get banished for... a minute? Two minutes? Either way, it's a banish, and you can't do ANYTHING while banished. Even if you can start casting with the help of lag, it'd get cancelled immediately.
