Vanity Pets

Now I don't mean the non-combat pets.

Does anyone else tame pets that you get soley for the looks/backstory of.

For example I spent quite a long time getting this costume together for Glorinda (my female hunter) and decided she needed a matching pet, I don't plan on using this pet that much so it's purely a costume + matching pet RP thing.

Anyone else do this?

Oh and here's the outfit and pet that I mentioned.

Hmm, I do like pets that match in that they have green either predominantly, or at least a reasonable amount of it. I'm not sure that I've ever tamed one JUST to parade around with in that sense, but I have tamed some that I probably won't use, but that I really like the look of. For example, I tamed one of those red and purple owls from Skettis, they're incredibly striking. While I most likely won't ever use it, I loved how it looked and had a perfect name for it, so I tamed it. But, I don't have a costume for it or anything like that. :) Does that count?

Hehe, I tend to do that all the time! I'm just as bad as Vephriel at times (no offense of course <3!) Heres one I just took to show off my flare with Arlys, I do things such as make signatures with this outfit :D /pokes signature

Oddly enough the idea was inspired by someones signature.

It had a 'what I am now' and 'what I once was' so decided Glorinda had been a part of the Scarlet Crusade but had felt that the message of the light had been corrupted by the Crusade and so struck out on her own, taking her faithful pet hound, Brigitte (named after the only high ranking member of the Crusade she actually felt was still pure of heart) and heading outside Tyr's Hand and to make the long trip from there to Northshire Abbey.

Slowly but surely she grew to use her priestly powers less and less and focus more on her and Brigitte's survival, she retained some minor powers (Mend pet/Revive pet) but otherwise scavenged and hunted for what she needed.

Thus she progressed from Priest to Hunter.

Brigitte is mostly kept in Stormwind, the hound is faithful but now too old to face the rigors of adventuring and a chance to redeem one of the Dracodons from Blackwing Lair meant she had a replacement, Brigitte lives comfortably and mostly just hangs around the Blue Recluse Inn.

I have a great picture of my hunter in almost all white/silver Armour and a nice pearl crab beside him in tanaris, with the sun directly behind.

I always have at least one pet that matches my current armor set! In fact I used to only buy specific armor to go with a cool pet!
Can't get away with that at 80 though :P

What items does it take to make that costume for the SM boss? I've always wanted to copy her on my draenei.

I don't have gimmicks or costumes right now, but when they fix Death Ravager so that he is tamable, I'll be in the Troll Shaman clothes with Death Ravager next to me while standing in the hills of Nagrand, overlooking the area. I do love me some Troll Shaman "shirt" action!

Even back in BC, when we just had three pet slots and you had to keep one free for training from temp pets, when I got to 70 and had trained all the skills, I got a 'vanity' hunter pet which was a sporebat. Back then, sporebats weren't good for much of anything but running guildy alts through dungeons :)

Actually looking under Inquisitor Whitemane on WoWhead lead me to a very helpful person that had collected all the pieces needed to copy her look.

The hardest thing to find were the actually tailor made items since they're both low level (so nobody post vanilla bothered collecting them) and drop only patterns. The two sets here are for both a normal version and a 'dark' version.

Make sure you haven't done much 'high level' of outland either because chances are you might have already vendored the items in question.

Of those items:
3 are tailor items.
4 are Outland quest rewards.
1 is a Boss drop (from Whitemane herself).

When there were 3 stable slots, I was much more careful with my pet collection since I was an actual raider. It pained me to be so. And then we got five slots. .... and two of them were permanently filled up with 'vanity pets'. :D

When the black warpstalker was first tameable, I picked her up (at level 72!), and she never left my stable, even when she wouldn't attack players. Even when she couldn't be buffed or healed. I joke nowadays that I sometimes regret they made her tameable, because she was such a special thing for me. But honestly, she is a beloved memory, rather than a super-valuable member of my lineup, and I keep her for those memories and the fact that I absolutely love how she looks.

On the other hand, my crocolisk-hydra is an extremely valuable member. He is my primary PVP pet. He's loud, intimidating, and a lot of people don't know what the hell he is or what he can do. .... that said, if hydras become tameable, and he becomes a hydra (as he is likely to do if they do), I may very well return him to the wilds of Sholazar because there are *SO* many other colors that make me go 'ooo'.

i spent a few hours waiting in line with tons of hunters from both factions on my server to tame a worgen in the fjord when that became possible. i named him Glitch and i loved him to bits. then they took the pet bar away, but i was happy to make an RP set and hang out in IF answering tons of questions about him. then one day, since blizzard hates fun and has proven it many times over, they turned him into an ordinary white worg. bye bye best vanity pet ever! :(
