So i'm sitting here camping sambas, when all over a sudden my NPCscan goes crazy! My heart starts racing and I've finally thought I've found sambas but instead I get a hunter jumping out from behind a rock shouting "GOT YOU!!!"
Has this ever happend to anyone else? Hunter's messing with your NPCscan

No, but NPC_Scan gave me a heart attack once by clocking my own Brillant Macaw when I just ran back into DM with it to start trying again for the Albino.

Spending $15 a month just to get your kicks and giggles by... doing
this? Sounds like someone's kid got onto their hunter and used a hard-earned tame for cheap laughs

That's just mean. I hate it when people do that.

I've had that done to me while I was camping Karoma some hunter kept putting him away and every time he got anywhere near me he would take him out again..I was so annoyed, that I logged out.

I am not saying this is the case every time, but do you think 100% of the hunters that do this are doing it on purpose?
I was camping for King Krush and every day that I logged in my NPC Scan would go off within 20min of me logging in... every single time it got my heart racing... but it always turned out to be the same hunter farming ore. I don't think he was doing it intentionally but instead just had KK as a pet and every time he jumped off of his mount to mine the node KK came out.

Ysera had an orc huntress pulling out KK in Sholazar for a while. I wasn't looking for him for myself, but a buddy and I were helping each other (he was scouting for Loque for me) and it was damn annoying.

wow that sucks

i know there are people who do it on purpose cause they get a lul from it but there are some who dont, i have seen on guy who had loque land and his loque came out and he quickly dismissed it saying sorry he didnt relize he was ina spawn point. So it all depends but there are some ruuuude people out there

had it happen a few times, gets annoying. to the point i made a .exe to clear my cache every time i exit outta the game lol.
im guilty of not realizing ive had a rare out while i was in or near a spawn point (volatile fire fishin with terror out). it happens to everyone. but some people do it on purpose

Well, at some point you're allowed to actually use the pet, and not just keep it in the stables. But it is easier to change so this doesn't happen with 4.0.+

Don't forget that one chick who purposely would take out Loque'nahak when a hunter from our channel was hunting them. She was even asked to stop, or to politely put up the pet and basically did the 'lololol why' thing.
I remember her name. Won't say it. But I remember it.

I have to agree, based on my own experiences. While flying around looking for Karoma, I decided to go on a Grim Batol run with my guild. So I pulled out Sambas and just as I started to mount up, a Goblin pretty much crash landed on me.
Being on the Alliance, I couldn't tell him sorry, but I did emote it. But I didn't mean to do it on purpose, y'know?

Yeah, we have a few "winners" on Ysera, don't we?

I had it happen several times during my Krush hunt. I am sure a few of these false alarms were intentional and some were done in ignorance. Either way, it got so frequent that I had to put a timer on my own hunt; one can only take so many false alarms, y'know? Gave myself a week to find him and then I would have called off the search until Cata.
The other bad thing about these false alarms was when Krush did finally show up, I was fed up with being tricked that if my husband hadn't pointed him out to me, I would have missed my chance. NPCscan was, in a way, crying wolf.

I posted a thread awhile back about hunter etiquette regarding NPCscan and rare tame areas. I was getting zerged by ally hunters while trying to fish out some volatile fire in the lava pits near Terrorpene. Long story short, the only way I found to keep them off of me was to bring out my own Terrorpene and show them "Look, I have it, stop attacking me I'm not going for your pet." Then of course, if they use npcscan it would make it go off and they would have to go and clear it. So it seemed like a no - win situation if I wanted to fish there. Sigh.
Regardless, I don't think people should be so childish by purposely setting off NPCscan. I'm sorry that happened.

No one's saying you shouldn't, but it's another thing to sit at spawn points with it out altogether.

I recall that one. You should almost just have someone else fish up the volatiles for you

Happened twice while I was camping Arcturis. The first time I'm almost positive was on purpose to be a jerk, the second time was someone who must not know about NPCScan because they felt really bad when I told them I had to go clear my cache. I'm going after King Krush right now and I constantly worry someone will do it to me again.
