GAAH!!! Lost a blue Madexx to an undead rogue.

Typical story.. I start in, see rogue drop in and stealth, so I know I'm in trouble..

Rogue taps it first, I start a tame, rogue pulls it, I distracting shot it back and restart tame, rogue pulls it back, and back and forth three times I think.... Madexx finally dies from the damage.

Damn I hate undead rogues. I'll never be able to play horde because of them. Want to kick every last one of them.

In retrospect I should have popped a haste pot, it might have been enough.. got tame down to 3 seconds one time...

tbh I have to say ANY rogue is an asshole or rather has a HIGH chance of being one. I had horde and alliance ignore me [and an undead rogue] when I decided on Yas to tame the beetle that only spawns during the Harrison Jones quest...

Everyone else ignores me....

Nelf Rogue zones in... Nelf comes over... waits till last second, POW tries to ruin my tame.

My ex played a rogue. He wasn't a nice person (understatement). I haven't been able to do anything with my rogue since. I definately think I'm giving the rogue the boot for another hunter.

I think the main issue is that there's nothing but 25g in it for the rogue, which makes a lot of hunters feel like non-hunters should defer if a hunter wants to tame.... And I'd generally expect people to show that courtesy, simply because I generally like to expect people to be kind and considerate (haha yeah, I know). That being said, first tag is first tag.

Well, I had landed first, was dismissing my other pet, and the rogue tapped it a hair before I could. I doubt that would have mattered. It was clear the rogue was going for the kill, and I for the tame.

Since it was opposite faction, couldn't say anything to them.

It's also my days in AV that makes me detest undead rogues. Especially those named "PwnzYrAzz" and some such.

But the post is really about my frustration of loosing Madexx. Again. (And the fact that this was likely my last chance to seriously look for that bug. Back to work on Monday... )

That is why when you are trying to find a rare, have a spot empty already and do not have a pet active. Common sense, that way you do not loose time dismissing or abandoning.

And he had it tagged first, so it was rightfully his I am sorry to say.

But don't worry apparently Blizz is making some of the colors of Madexx available on regular mobs, and I hear blue is one of those colors-if you just want the look and don't care about it being a rare or not.

Well, if I had tapped it first, do you really think that would have made a difference to that rogue? It's not a mining node we are talking about...

I keep the trash pet handy so when I'm mining and a rogue kites a mob to me the pet can take it.

to me , dont matter who tags the mob first, its always a hunter over the other person who's there, non hunters dont have any business messing with any pet (rares) at all to begin with, they get nothing with taggin a beast before a hunter. they just jelous of us hunters.

Actually i have a story to tell bout me n my encounters with madexx .
i do my first patrol for madexx. nothing. so i go do my patrol for the camel figurines when a rouge (horde side) mentions on chat if someone wants to kill a rare, i ask which one, she says madexx, so she invites me to group, of course , rouge is with others in group so its 5 of us, one asks " do we need this many pple"? rouge tells em, " hunter wants to tame it"(me), once we all get there, i say "cheer for me peeps", the warlock and shadow priest that are in the group say" NO' we killin it for achievement, and for what ever it drops". i tell em it dont drop anything, let me tame it plis" but they didnt listen, lock and priest killed it right infront of me, me and the rouge that found it were just standing there in ' OMG U F-KERS". i yell at em " YA R WORSE THAN ALLIANCE FOR DOING THIS TO A FELLOW HORDE" we on same side!. they just ignore me, leave group, n one says " go QQ to ur mommy".
2 days later, im doing patrol again, this time my own guildie posts it on chat, i tell him " memememe!!!" and finally got him lol.

Worse thing u can do to any hunter is doing stuff like killin pet infront of him especially if hunter is on ur faction side. :{

No offense. But this really is starting to bug me.

Rares ARE NOT meant for hunters. I'm aware they gave them a gray that is only worth 25 gold. Okay. So what? If I find a rare on my druid, and no hunter wants it (Asking is a courtesy, as well.) I will kill it. Because I found it. It is mine to do with what I want too. And 25 gold is 25 gold.

The Northrend Achy rares? Yeah. It sucks, I know. But let's say you see a pally killing a rare, but you need that rare, so you steal it. You have a new pet. But congratulations, that rare was the last one the pally needed for the acheivement. 10 points may not be much to you, but he found it first.

It is never a hunter's priority over who found it and tagged it first. Ever.

That said, griefing is another matter. If you found it first, tagged and are taming, and someone kills it, yes, I can see valid anger. But because someone killed it as you were coming in? No. They found it first.

My apologies for sounding hostile, I don't mean it. This isn't directed to anyone, it's just something I've noticed that irks me.

The ironic thing is, an very awesome undead rogue offered to help me look for Sambas just to help, after another hunter had played the "I'll pay" card in General.

Profiling is wrong, guys. :C

Also I'm gonna have to side with those saying "Well....he technically tagged it so....it's his". It sucks but thats just kinda the truth here.

that way of thinking is just going to alienate hunters from the rest. Rares are rares, first tag is first tag. In theory you would hope they would pass on rare pets, but in all seriousness its first come first serve.

Think Jadefang, does every non-hunter have to wait to get the mini pet because a hunter "might" want to tame him? Its free game, and for some seeing a shiney with a Silverdragon is fun to kill for them

I feel bad for this situation, and it sucks on the timing issue, but its just how it goes. If he technically got the first hit on him before the tame, he had right to the kill. Still sucks and I would have tried to steal a tame myself, but yeah thats WOW for you

In general I agree with first tag gets the kill/tame.

Also: There are people frequenting these forums that have undead rogue alts... or even (ex-)mains. (shocking, I know!)

Next time if I see a rogue approach a rare, I'll quietly fly away if he happens to tag a second before I do.

And while others are allowed to voice their frustrations here, and often vent about the other faction, I guess I'm not afforded that luxury. Keep in mind I made the original post just after I lost Madexx to that rogue.

I'm not at all suggesting you're the bad guy and I sincerely doubt anyone else were suggesting that either.

I can see the point that a new pet in all likelyhood will be worth more to a hunter than a 25g grey vendor item to anyone else but should hunters really get priority over all others?

As a thought experiment, let's for a moment assume that Blizzard were to implement a suggestion brought up by other posters here: Starting a tame means that the beast becomes immune to everyone else. Should this behave the same way if the beast had already been tagged by someone outside your party/raid?

I don't know if this is really the place to debate protocol or whatever you want to call it. This whole pattern of "I feel bad for you, but-" is probably what has Slickrock so irritated. Besides, what's in a technicality? The only way that whomever got the tag would matter is if you filed a ticket in complaint against the hunter (which would have been rather petty in this case). Barring that, who cares? It didn't stop Slickrock from trying to tame Madexx, and I highly doubt that the rogue would have turned around and walked away if Slickrock had managed to tag Madexx (given his disregard for Slickrock's attempt to tame Madexx that pretty much coincided with the rogue tagging Madexx).

I wonder if the rogue playstyle has something to do with how nasty some rogue players can be. It would certainly attract some of the more unpleasant types that play wow. If I thought that spending my time in BGs springing surprise attacks on players was my idea of fun, I would have rolled a rogue. Seriously, who wastes their time in a BG endlessly sapping players? I can also easily see how said person could get satisfaction from trying to mess up your tame.

Slickrock, the only consolation I can offer is that a scheming rogue in a BG can have their stunlock on you broken if their daggers are confiscated by a scorpid...

I can't honestly say that I wouldn't have attempted the tame myself given the same situation. But is it also a technicality the other way? I would have been (and have been in the past) furious if I had tagged a mob and someone else ends up killing it.

Also, could people *please* stop assuming that everyone who plays a rogue is underhanded and does cheap shots in real life? I thought this was a role playing game...
