Sad to read, but thats just one GM, haven't others said that he was still around?

Or maybe he will return in a later patch?

OMG, no!!! He's my favourite wolf Glad I've kept him in my stables forever then. He was a pain to get in the first place.

So far in the wowhead comments 2 separate people say they have gotten the same response.

It looks as if he was just removed with 4.0.3, the previous GMs may have been asked in 4.0.1

Hmm I wonder if I put in a ticket I can get my old one restored..... Used to have him.

Hircine (OCJ) is the oldest pet in my stable, glad I never got rid of him.

That really sucks though, why remove him?

This makes me really sad. I've wanted this wolf for a long time and never found him. Now I never will. I recently tamed the Lone Hunter (ghost version of him). I'll keep him in memorium of the beautiful wolf I never got a chance to know.

There's been several topics about him and people hunting him after 4.0.3 but nobody has been able to locate him. He's my favourite wolf as well. He caused me a lot of trouble to get and I hope he might make a return in the next patch.

Anyone on ptr seen him?

I haven't found him myself, despite searching since The Shattering, but multiple people have claimed to have found him since.

GMs are wrong more often than right from what I've seen in regards to pets--they really just don't KNOW this stuff. Only the devs making the change will. So while I've not seen OCJ, and have been doubting his existence myself, well, just take what GMs say with a grain of salt

I'm with Acherontia. I remember having quite a few people say that he survived after Cataclysm when I was putting together my Retired/Extinct pet skins list.

He's in a very high traffic area, right near an Alliance travel hub, and I believe near some Archaeology spots as well. He's on a stupid long respawn timer, and he's often killed by passerby. I wouldn't put too much stock into this rumour just yet...I remain dubious of GMs because, like Acherontia said, they don't always know that much about mobs and pets.

Anyways, as for myself, I released my OCJ (Stormfang) last night after some contemplation of how I never used him. I really loved the personality he developed, but to me he was an elderly wolf who wasn't quite cut out for fighting anymore, so I never felt right taking him into battle. I have the Dire Wolf mount from the Orcs that's identical to OCJ, and I got it so that I could pretend he was a mount as well. I decided last night to release him and just say that he retired from fighting and he's an occasional mount now instead. It works fine, and I still have him with me, just in a different way.

While it seems likely that OCJ was removed for a short period, I tend to think he will be restored eventually. Take Araga, for example. It doesn't seem that she is in the game right now, but several GMs have assured us that she is still lurking around.

With old world rares as famous as Araga and OCJ, I think a revamp may be in the works for them, which might explain their absence. I doubt either of them are gone forever.

True, who knows he may not be gone. Just never seen GM responses saying flat out that the NPC is gone before. But if he is, heres hoping he comes back some how.

But why revamp OCJ? He's already the only wolfie in that particular look/color. I can't see what they would do to change him.

If they revamp OCJ, I will cry even more. I LOVE his current skin.

OCJ's skin is still exactly the same on the PTR right now so he's probably just another on the MIA rare list.

I've seen him though. My SilverDragon has spotted and targeted him while I was flying through the area so it wasnt just someones pet and I'm on a very high population server

I don't think he was actually removed. He was there in beta just fine. Also take GM's with a grain of salt, they're usually incorrect about info. Seeing as the current live version of the game is the version I played on beta, where I did find OCJ just fine, I'm sure he's still there. I'll keep an eye out.
