Loque camping questions
Ok here to ask a few questions with regard getting Loque.
Which would be best, camping in one spot or flying around his spawn points?
Does he have a six hour respawn timer or is it longer?
Is it true that he despawns after 10 minutes if nothing happens?
I've tried the 'log on ever hour, on the hour and fly around' bit (from 1am this morning to just now as a finally fly through of the day a little early) but luck really doesn't want to pay off so I'm guessing I'm going to have to sit my backside down for 6 hours or more and simply wait it out.
Right now I want to punch whoever it was that thought giving him multiple spawn locations was 'fun' right in the face.

Re: Loque camping
6-14 hours the usual. I still believe no more then 3 rares can be up in northrend, and no he doesnt despawn, ive been with him for 20 mins before I found someone to tame him.

Re: Loque camping questions
Thankfully the 'no more than 3' got debunked on these very forums recently.
Using the PTR someone flew around Northrend and counted 16 rares up at once.

Re: Loque camping questions
When I got loque, it was around 6 in the morning and I had been doing hours of constant fly arounds. I know everyone cant do this, and many have success camping 1-2 spots. Ive camped several things before but the sheer abundance of Loque spawn points made my obsessiveness go nuts, I just couldnt risk it.
In my head, both have something working against them.
With camping one spot, you have 2 forms of RNG fighting against you: spawn timer and spawn location. Spawn timers are aggravating enough but knowing I was only camping 1 of around 7 possible spawn points really caused me to doubt. If those two RNG events line up in your favor, you have a near 100% chance to nab him. And if youre near the gorillas, you have 2-3 spawn points really close you can keep a close eye on.
With constant fly arounds, you visit every spawn point within 3-4 minutes (310 mount + 10% is what i was doing). This means you are only fighting one of the ingame RNG events (spawn timer) as the spawn location wont matter since you are constantly visiting each. Downside here is there is that chance that in those minutes he spawns til you reach his point, someone else is there and nabs him, either to tame or kill. Prime time is not the time to fly around IMO. Also fly arounds are only as effective as you do them. It requires you to constantly be at your keys, constantly turning and flying. Instead of waiting for 2 RNG events to line up, you are waiting on 1 RNG event and hoping you are the first one to see him once he spawns.
I also think it boils down to preference. Ive gotten TLPD, Sambas, Skoll, Madexx, and Loque on fly arounds (Sambas ironically was a fly around I decided to do while camping one spot). Ive gotten Arcturis and Jadefang twice on camps. I only camp those with few spawn points, but thats me.

Re: Loque camping questions
it is my opinion that hours of constant flying around are useless when taming northrend rares. what you are basically doing is waiting for *someone else* to do the work and find and kill other rares, giving the one you want a chance to spawn. who knows how long that will take with empty northrend zones!! leave your hunter in sholazar, hop on an alt, and find a rare to kill in another zone. then jump back on your hunter and wait/circle the spawn points about 20-25 mins. if nothing spawns, log back over and go kill another rare. rinse and repeat! in less than a week and with zero camping i have gotten King Krush (seen twice), Skoll, Gondria (seen three times), and made an Arcturis and a Loque spawn for a camper using this method. my server is the 9th highest pop US server, so it's not just because no one else is looking!
it is very discouraging to me to see campers in Northrend nowadays. i start out ready to fly from zone to zone and start slaughtering rares to make something spawn, but it would just be snapped up by someone letting me do all the footwork. >.<

I also thought the "limited rare" theory was debunked?
if this is truly the way to get rares to spawn, then I have been doing it all wrong

Re: Loque camping questions
If you're on a 150% speed flier, I'd pick one or two spots--my favorite was the eastern gorilla spawn, because it was a hop and a jump to Eagle Eye the western gorilla spawn. If on 280% or faster, circling spawn points while making sure you're parked over one if you afk may work better for you.

* I usually cruised around at 10 till, 10 after, 1/2 past, 40 after.BaldingBarry said: Which would be best, camping in one spot or flying around his spawn points?

I've seen Loque'nahak:
-South of Nesingwary - 2
-West of Gorillas near Skyreach Pillar - 4
-North East Matriarch Spawn - 2
* * Spawn times vary I guess, from camping him straight, even with epic flyer, I'm sure I probably missed him, though only once I was able to gauge a 12-13hr spawn time.
* * * I don't know for Loque, but I did have Skoll engaged for well over ten minutes while I waited on a guildie to show up to tame him & while engaged he didn't despawn.
Regardless I'd be right quick to tag & ask instead of waiting around cause' by then some joe-shmo will be by ready to put a Loque head over his mantle.

Re: Loque camping questions
You know what.
Screw it.
It isn't just the fact he has a ridiculously long spawn timer but the fact he has a varied number of spawn locations that makes it just a ridiculous thing to tame.
Sorry but I've gotten way past the point of being able to put up with camping and wasting time on something virtual. I've spent 8 hours now just camping and hunting around for Loque and not a hide nor hair of him.
If he doesn't turn up within the next hour going to not only give up on taming him but WoW itself, this kind of BS is NOT fun Blizzard.
Seriously I get why they're rare but they don't need to be this time wastingly/very lucky level of rare.
For all of you who got him, congrats you're either very lucky or have the patience of a saint.
If it was 1 spawn point and an 10 hour respawn time, I could probably deal with it but this just seems to be the straw the broke the camels back.
Screw you Blizzard...guess I'll go back to playing City of Heroes and Minecraft.

Re: Loque camping questions
Uh dude chill. I didn't rage as hard during my week long and 4 day camp of Skoll and Krush respectively. I have seen Loque almost 10 times now, ten damn times. He is there, and I know this because he stalks me. The thing YOU need to do is what I did with my Krush runs, /who the basin. If there is even another hunter there, chances are yep, they are after Loque. Or others are camping for achievement so they can get their silly epeen raised higher.BaldingBarry wrote:You know what.

Loque is also one of the ones often overlooked at times as he has several out of the way spawn points so unless someone is actively seeking him, chances are he won't be tripped over.
He's not like the cata rares that spawn in zones that for the most part stay heavily active for all of time right. Now thankfully the basin is for the most part quiet.
I mean christ man sometimes I want to break down and cry because I can't get any god damn proto drakes, but if one mob, just ONE is the only thing keeping you playing or breaking your resolve to play so much or anything, take a damn break. Seriously, take a break, go do something else.

Re: Loque camping questions
It's just that though.
I use to be able to sit my ass down and camp or grind for things, all the whelplings, Bloodsail rep etc.
Spent countless hours grinding, camping or such back when I use to play this game before I quit just after Lich King came out.
I honestly just don't have the patience for it anymore, especially not for 'the stars finally align in your favour' kind of luck that the WotLK rares seem to play into, just once I'd like to have luck play into my hands and be one of those players that gets it with ease and not have to spend 8 hours or more grinding/camping my ass off just to get something.
I just can't do it anymore, even if I take a break from camping Loque, what else is there, grinding dungeons waiting for the boss to drop that one piece of loot I need all to do it again in heroics and then again in raiding, same ruddy difference. I think I'm just sick of the WoW as a whole and, as you said, need a break or simply to go back to an MMO that appeals more to me these days.
I get kind of obsessive in that I can't do anything else until I get it, did it with Chromaggus (spent 3-4 days purely in stormwind just asking people if they could run me through BWL) and I've been doing it with Loque.
