So at first, I was like this:

I named him Acubens, which is Alpha Cancri, or brightest star in the Cancer constellation. Quite fitting.
Coincidentally, Cancer is my Zodiac sign. Belated birthday gift? :>

Congratulations on your ding, your turn-around to finding that cutie, and the pet itself! Best belated birthday present. (Or... half-birthday present, if you're a Cancer?)

Oooh, grats! I love naming my pets after stars, too. I'm a little aggravated that I can't name my Grim Totem Spirit Guide after Sirius, the dog star (since I don't happen to know of any wolf stars XD); I guess pet names can't contain "sir" or any variation thereof. So, despite my distaste for doing so, I resorted to the character map and named him Síríus.

Anyway, grats again on your new baby, he's beautiful! ^ ^

Hah, I did that with my Skoll, only with just one funny i.
So far, except for Sirius and Acubens I have Vega, Polaris, Orion, Betelguese (which is a rare Silithid. And you pronounce it Beetle juice, like in that movie... And I only just realised that. *facepalm*) and Regulus.
Sort of star-themed are EventHorizon (has to do with black holes) and Enterprise (yup...)
To be honest, I was guessing it's Harry Potter fans are at fault here, not the Sir, but now that I think of it, you might be right.

I called him Procyon, the brightest star in Canis Minor constellation, since I already called Skoll Sirius. And he is bigger than Karoma.
That's 2/2 Cata Spirit Beasts in two days. I can't believe my luck. I have a sneaky feeling the rest of the pretties will be much more elusive.

I don't know about individual stars, but there is certainly a wolf constellation!

I fully agree, though, that the "sir" string restriction is irritating. When was that even implemented? Is it new? I remember way back in vanilla WoW, my Tauren hunter had a cat from Darkshore I really liked, named Sir Prowly. Reluctantly abandoned him when they introduced boars with charge for the first time, and there were only two usable stable slots. When I went back recently to retame Sir Prowly with the awesome new Shadowclaw skin, of course, I realized I couldn't give him the same name as before and felt surprisingly disappointed. :\

BTW, the issue is indeed with the "Sir" being in the name - due to "Sir" being listed as a restricted pet name in that one sticky on this forum.

I called him Rigel, the brightest star in Orion (the hunter!) constellation.

Except now, I'm paranoid. It's unnatural to have this much luck in one day. Am I dying of some giant invisible fat tumor or something? Why would Universe grace me this way if it isn't a compensation for something?
Does this mean I'll be chasing the remaining three rare beasts for the rest of the expansion?

I dislike using special characters, too, but finally resorted to it to name my green wind serpent, Jãde. Why they have a problem with Jade, I have no idea.
