When I search within a pet range, of lets say 10-17.

I mark tamable only and No Exotics as the options for my search.

I get the following exotics of:
Mistwing Ravager
Mistwing Cliffdweller
The Kurken
Earthborer

I get this list.

Sounds to me like you did an Exotics Only search by mistake.
