PTR, Deterrence, And You

I have never had luck with using Deterrence in tames. People insist it helps, but with a 0% parry while you're taming/channeling, it just doesn't do anything for me!

... until now.

In the PTR, the '100% miss' of Deterrence carries over into taming. Which is to say you can pop Deter, start taming, and get a good 4-5 seconds of absolute immunity from physical attacks while you're taming your special pet.

Nice! Taming Terrorpene and Ghostcrawler just became that much easier!

Well, Terrorpene's attack isn't physical. I'm not completely positive what it would do to that. Ghostcrawler, though, I'm pretty sure it'd help. I might head down to Vashj'ir and give it a try to test. :D

EDITED TO ADD: Found Ghostcrawler, tried the trick out. Unfortunately, Nerfbat isn't blocked by the physical attack 'miss', so it's probably not considered a physical attack. The basic swings were, though. So it helped a little!

I could be wrong as I haven't personally attempted taming Terrorpene yet, but since Deterrence is supposed to also give 100% chance for spells to be deflected, I'd expect that it should indeed be useful vs. Terrorpene's fire. It's classed as a spell, right?

I believe the new tooltip read says "100% chance for melee attacks to miss."
I'm not on the PTR though so I'm probably wrong.

It also grants a 100% chance to deflect spells. Mind you, I don't know whether a channeled magical attack is considered a 'spell' to it. May have to go tick off Terrorpene and see!

If it still works on spells, and Terropene's ability counts as a spell, that'd certainly. Make taming him at 81 easier.
Although, I enjoyed the challenge of taming him at 81 with no resist or haste prep and a freshly 85 holy pally. XD

Hmm, I think that Nerfbat may be ignoring immunities, parries, dodges, etc. It would kind of make sense - how can a paladin's bubble possibly stand up against the might of the Nerfbat?

I thought it only offered the spell reflect if you grabbed it from the... Survival Tree I believe?

EDIT

Survival Tree. "Mirrored Blades" 4 tiers down

Deterrence has a 100% chance to deflect spells (spell bounces off you and into the ground). Mirrored Blades changes that to a 100% chance to reflect spells (spell bounces off of you and hits the caster). Last I heard, though, Mirrored Blades was bugged.

Ah, small differences. Fun stuff.

I've actually been getting nailed through Deterrence with spells for a while so I didn't think anything about it because I misread Mirrored Blades, though that could just be lag on my end (spell hitting before I get deterrence up even though on my screen I see it up)
