Feed-O-Matic

I used to use this a few years ago when I played for a little bit. I found the addon, but I cannot get it to work as intended. It's supposed to let you know when your pet needs feeding, and you can bind a key to it's feed pet icon and it will automatically feed your pet what you have in your bags. It also places a sentence on food you find as to whether your pet will eat it or not.
I need to get the "lets you know when your pet is hungry" and "automatically feeds your pet" part working. I cannot seem to get ahold of the author, and I hope someone here has used this so they can give me some advice on it.

It seems POSSIBLE, though I don't know, that the changes to allowed scripting broke the mod.
I personally find that the Mend Pet glyph works for most things. Of course, you do need to be level 25 to get glyphs.

I believe the Fizzwidget Feed-O-Matic addon is one that needed updates in 3.0 and 4.0. Have you downloaded the most recent version of the addon from Fizzwidget's website, or are you using an outdated version? I had to update recently to get a version that catalogued the Cataclysm vendor foods as appropriate for your pets.
You should be able to keybind pet feeding and turn on the use of emotes to let you know when your pet is hungry from the options page once you have the addon installed and up-to-date.

I just reinstalled WoW and all my addons, so it is the version that is available on the site from yesterday.
I have all of that turned on, but it does nothing. Which I click the key that is bound to feed pet ingame from the interface, it still outlines the cursor and I still have to choose the food myself. And I do not get any emote or sound when my pet is hungry. It's as if the addon isn't even installed. I have read and re read the install instructions as well.
Also, I was told by Fizzwidget that you had to bind keys using the WoW interface. It is not in the addon's interface at all.

Yeah I believe you can also set it in the settings to automatically feed your pet with whatever you have in your bag thas eatable for that type of pet.. Since I have gotten the Mend Pet Glyph I don't use food anymore... but its still a great add on..

You can't auto-feed. You need to at least click a button. Blizzard's rules on that!
As for the clicking, did you check the AddOn's settings? It's possible that you haven't adjusted the settings. The 'sound effect' isn't there by default, IIRC.
I have to admit: I've been using it forever, and I've never had a problem with the AddOn except for a couple glitches he fixed.

Hmm. I have whatever version came out shortly after 4.0.3 (when vendors started selling Cata food) but I haven't changed the settings for this addon in a couple of years. I honestly can't quite recall, but I seem to remember it made me make a macro and select a keybind for it. I don't have it on my bars, but I have alt-f keybound to it. Works like a charm with a very recent (if not the newest) version.

I don't really understand what is wrong. I installed it as I would any other addon, but as far as I can see it does nothing. I still have to click the "feed pet" buscuit, and I have to choose and click on a food before it will feed my pet. I thought it gave some type of alert when your pet was hungry as well..but I might be mistaken on that. But if this is all it does, I don't see the advantage of it.
I will try uninstalling and reinstalling it and see if it helps. Oh...would having a custom UI matter? The only thing I have is an addon that changes the lions on the bars to murlocs. Not a whole UI, just that.

Yea I know that

I am not saying that it should auto feed. But it does say it will choose the best food for your pet and feed it when you click a button. I have "bound" the key I want, but when I click it all it does is turn the hand cursor outline glowy and I still have to choose the food to feed before it feeds it. It doesn't even alert when the pet is hungry, and I have it set to "unhappy" ...

It wouldn't matter. I don't have a custom UI, and I know some who have no other addons.
You said you did a fresh install of WoW? If not, I'd recommend having a look at the WTF folder - it's where you save addon and game settings. If you delete it, you'll have to reconfigure whatever you changed from default, so it depends how much work you're willing to put in. As a start, don't delete it. Rename it (I usually add -old at the end of the folder name) and see if it allows you to change the settings. That's about the extent of my tech support know-how, but it's worth a shot.

Gazzik Fizzwidget's Superior Gadgets and Doodad Emporium has the most recent release which is 4.0.4.
I didn't notice you saying if you actually set your key binding using the default ui, so here is how to do it. To set the key binding, go to the main wow options menu and click Key Bindings. Addons are all the way at the bottom. It is Called FOM_FEED.
You can also left click on the happiness indicator next to your pet's pane to feed em.
