Tamed Sambas last night!

I dinged 85 last night and while on a GRATS ride on a guild member's epic mount I saw in g chat that Sambas was up and did anyone want him. I immediately yelled "ME" and the race was on to get from Org to the Twilight Highlands. :? I was so flustered I got on the zeplin and then was like DER and flew off to the portal. I then was in the Blasted Lands and immediately started flying north to the Twilight Highlands whipping my wind rider the whole way. That sense of panic washed over as I could see in chat something about a player was attacking Sambas and anymore damage may actually kill the mob. :o Whipped harder, busted out the spurs trying to get my wind rider to go faster. I get there and my NPC Scan goes blaring practically deafening me not just for Sambas but someone else had Karoma out also. I dismount and target Sambas not shooting yet as he was trapped and his health was low, someone had aggro so I waited then tried to tame and the counter goes down down down down DING! MINE. /happydance

I couldn't believe it it!! I was shaking and my poor heart was racing. Huge thanks to Saon for waiting so patiently for me and announcing that Sambas was up. I was so thankful I named Sambas Saon which, to me seems to fit him. I really love this lion. I've always thought he was gorgeous but didn't think he was "for me" until I saw him knowing he'd be mine then it was total love struck.
Here's the SS's. Thank you again Saon! You're the best!

LMAO I hate when you are aware of a rare...that is several flightpaths or zepps/boats away. It's nerve-wrecking.

Congratulations! What a nerve-wracking tale, to be sure. But it was all worth it, in the end. :D He is amazing.

Huge grats, especially considering the circumstances. Sounds like me getting Skoll.

Spotted on my mage.
20 second log out.
Loading screen from hunter... who's in UC.
Hearth to Dal.
FP to K3.
Fly up to Brunhilldar.
20 second tame (yep, the old tame timer)

WORST 3 MINUTES EVER.

Congrats! Of all the rares I've gotten from Cata, I think he's my favorite... and he was the biggest surprise. One morning before heading out to work, I told myself, "Well, I'll logon and do one circle before I leave. It's just one... and besides, logging in right before leaving for work is how I was able to get Humar the Pridelord back in '05..."

Not expecting much, I login, hover a little around the far east area with the worgs and the bucks, then decide to head west along the mountain ridge. This time, when NPCScan went off, it didn't nearly give me heart attack because I learned from the last time with Karoma and I turned the sound down! :)

Glad to see he was saved for ya!
