Fishing Daily

I've tried looking up this information but have come up with either disappointing results of which I am not ready to accept, or merely innaccurate ones.

All those who enjoyed doing their fishing dailies for chance of a pet, a hat, gem, or perhaps a wonderful rod appreciated such gifts when doing our Dalaran dailies.
Even in BC, there was a chance for the crocolisk in the city daily to grant you a chance at a crocolisk pet. (Yes, I did try to catch them all)

So far in Cataclysm all I have received are crabs, though fortunately for me they are not the kind that I need any treatment for.

I have looked it up on El's Angling site and from the small section mentioning the quest, it seems only the pet and the fishing hat are what we have to look forward to.

Am I wrong? Has anyone received a fishing pole from the Stormwind (or horde version) fishing daily?

I was really hoping for a chance at fancy fishing rods again rather than having to head to Dalaran for a chance at them. (For some reason I really want my warlock, dk and rogue to all have the bone fishing pole)

Thank you for your time.

-Mearra

PS I searched before posting this, hopefully I didn't mess up and that it hasn't been asked before.

Nah, the new fishing dailies seem pretty crappy in terms of rewards. :(

Hat and crab here, too. Although I have to admit I was WAAAY too excited about the strand crawler. I totally didn't realize that pet existed and I was IN LOVE with this little lava crab I used to /wave at on the way to MC/BWL from Kargath ...

I don't remember if they added things to those other dailies after they were released or not, but only having 2 shinies in the bag of shinies seems a little silly to me.

I loved the reward system for the Dalaran fishing dailies, not to mention "Crocolisk in the City" from BC. The assortment of rewards as well as chances to bonus quests were amazing, it just prevented it from being a tedious little task each day. Though the fact you don't really have to leave town is a nice bonus in itself.

@Kalliope: I do love the lil guy, but I was aware of him, he was also available from Dalaran's fishing daily reward bag. So I'd received him on two toons during Wrath.

Yep, I got the crab in Wrath myself too! I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a new pet with the new fishing dailies, just a carried over old one.

Indeed! The crabs were added later to Dalaran, as I recall. :)

I think it was just further incentive for another time sink from Blizzard. But. I wouldn't complain if the bags started dropping crabs of another color -and or- Muddy Crawfish.

wtb black and blue 'crawfish' blizz.

I love those kinda time sinks. For some reason grinding towards an inevitable result gets boring very quickly for me ... but if there's a .02% chance of something happening I'm all "oh heck yeah must do that EVERY DAY!!"

at least the SW ones give you 1 or 2 Fishing skill points. thats nice for me i guess...

problem is they are not going to add epic gems or other fancyness because those daily fishing quests are doable at lowbie levels.

Royi they could do like a heirlom deal and make like a fish pole that upgrades to your fishing level.

I like the fishing pole idea, or the pet snail (like the Vash'jir ones), that is pretty cute.

I think there are 2 reasons for the Orgrimmar / Stormwind fishing dailies:

1) Low level characters can do these dailies. Unlike Outlands and Northrend, a Level 10 character can reasonably do these quests without high level help, and it gives newbies daily quests to do.
2) Part of the reward for doing the dailies is +1 or +2 to fishing skill. While that doesn't mean much at lower levels, it's pretty nice when you're over 400 skill and it takes 10 to 15 casts to gain a skill up.

Don't forget they are fast and easy, good for reputation even at high levels.

After you get exalted with one there is a bit of spill over iirc with the rest (aka +X to alliance standings)

Plus it's really a good start on the daily quest achievements, since otherwise you have to hit 70 before you get any real useful daily quests.

Exciting news: Today one of my guildies got the Bone Fishing Pole from the SW fishing daily!
So it seems the rods are now included!!!
Happy times :D

PS: They may have stated it on the patch notes and I missed it (probably too busy checking priest and hunter changes). Regardless, I am happy :D
