I hope this is the right place :\
I am trying to make two macros to help tame terrorpene (because so many people want him) I want it to be fast. Can someone point out the flaws in these?
macro1
/use Prismatic Elixir
/use Potion of Speed
/cast Ancient Hysteria
/cast Dismiss Pet
macro2
/tar terrorpene
/cast Deterrence
/cast Tame Beast
They are bound to mouse buttons so I can toggle between them with my thumb XD
Pet taming Macros.

Re: Pet taming Macros.
You probably want the speed potion in the second macro, like so:
/use Prismatic Elixir
/cast Ancient Hysteria
/cast Dismiss Pet
/tar Terrorpene
/use Potion of Speed
/cast Deterrence
/cast Tame Beast
Because the speed potion only lasts for 15 seconds so if you fumble any, or your Dismiss Pet cast gets delayed, or you do the panicked-dismount-in-mid-air all of us have done at least once, or Terrorpene wanders off and you have to mount up and give chase, you risk wasting the potion, at which point it's on cooldown and you're possibly risking life and limb by taming without it depending on your level (and if you have competition you can't afford to wait out the cooldown).
Also, I can't remember whether drinking an elixir and Dismiss Pet are on the GCD or not - but if both of them are, the first macro is going to fail on you. In which case it might be safer to put your Prismatic Elixir on a third keybind and do 1-2-3 (elixir - macro 1 - macro 2).
You can also sit around with a trash corehound rather than one you're attached to while you're camping, at which point you bind your Prismatic Elixir to your first button and this macro to the second:
/tar Terrorpene
/cast Ancient Hysteria
/script PetAbandon()
/use Potion of Speed
/cast Deterrence
/cast Tame Beast
Casts Ancient Hysteria, immediately abandons the trash corehound (won't give you a yes/no popup, it abandons without asking), use the potion, pop Deterrence and tame.
I used the latter method for a successful tame at lvl81, but then again I had no competition. (To the point that Terrorpene wandered out of my range when I pressed the macro the first time and I had to chase after him... I'm just glad I was fast enough that my speed potion didn't wear off, because my Deterrence certainly did and I was left with very, very little health after I completed the tame.)
Good luck!
[edit] Oh. One last thing. You might want to leave the /tar Terrorpene out of the macro and just target the turtle manually if you trust yourself to do it without fumbling - as I'm not certain how the targeting system works when there's a friendly and a hostile around with the same name (I think it defaults to the hostile, but I'm not sure), and as such, it might leave you open to griefing if there's another hunter hanging around with a pet called Terrorpene (especially if they're opposite-faction).

Re: Pet taming Macros.
I thought /script PetAbandon() was disabled?
Re: Pet taming Macros.
Nope.
Well, it is, but not the way you think it is.
What they "disabled" (or rather, fixed) was the use of a /script PetAbandon() macro, spammed at the end of a tame, to tame beasts with appearance buffs (as described in this thread).
On the other hand, it still works perfectly fine as a shortcut command to abandon your current pet without a confirmation window.

Re: Pet taming Macros.
Awesome, thank you
I'm going to use the macro you gave me then.. there are enough trash core hounds around Hyjal for sure ><

Re: Pet taming Macros.
For the record, Deterrance is pointless until it's changed next patch--you can't parry while channeling
You might want to macro an instant shot into the last macro, then manually tame, or lay a trap at your feet first JUST to tag it. Never know who'll come along and try to steal the kill (or does tame tag now?).
