Sholazar, the Land of Unusual Creatures and their Masters

I write this story about my taming of Loque'nahak. Enjoy! (Please bear with me if this seems a bit odd, I'm pretty tired, haha).

So there I was, relaxing in the great floating city of Dalaran with my beautiful Devilsaur, Apollyon. My husband Bruus was in Sholazar Basin, gathering Saronite ore to craft some Mammoth Cutters for me, who was too exhausted to focus on her own Engineering profession. Suddenly, I heard him exclaim through our mind-link, "I think I'm gonna just kill this one". I asked what on Azeroth he could be talking about, and he replied that he was SHOOTING Loque'nahak! "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?" I screeched. "Heh, I wasn't really going to kill it," he replied. "Someone might be looking for him! You should see if anyone wants him!" I scolded. "Nah, if someone wants him, they'll find him." Lazy. Then, he said, "Actually, I think I'll tame him," as he pored over his Hunting skills for the necessary knowledge of taming an exotic creature. "My dear, you aren't skilled in Beast Mastery, are you?" I questioned. "No, you're right, I'm....Oh well!" he chuckled casually as he flew off into the basin in his helicopter. By this time I had already been already running to The Magical Menagerie to release one of my stabled companions. I summoned Tetsusaiga, my long-time friend, and began to loosen his bonds. "What am I doing?" I thought to myself, "I can't abandon him! He's been my friend for five years!" So I instead chose to release Arcturis back into the wilds of Grizzly Hills. With an understanding roar, he trotted out of my sight.

Petless, I ran to the flight master and began my journey to Sholazar, the Basin of Rares Everyone Wants to Kill (aka, BREWK). For some reason, this particular gryphon felt a little more sluggish than usual. Perhaps it was all those extra cookies I'd jammed into my pocket for the long journey ahead. But finally, after the witless, leaden-reared gryphon landed in River's Heart, I mounted my Ebon Gryphon and began the slow flap up to Wintergrasp River. Gorillas, as far as the eye could see, entertained my view. Suddenly, there!; among the gorillas stalked BREWK's first spirit beast, Loque'nahak, mate of Har'koa. After being pursued by angry gorillas for a moment, I finally feigned death near the mountain's base. Loque'nahak seemed untroubled by my presense. I gingerly laid a freezing trap before my feet, and calmed my mind for the tame to come. But, I paused. Thinking back to the previous day's daunting task of taming The King of Sholazar, a feeling of bittersweetness swept over me. What if there was some poor, tired hunter, like myself, looking for his coveted prize? So, I extended my voice to the great Basin beyond and queried if anyone had been looking for this noble creature. What seemed like minutes passed, with no response whatsoever. Fearing finally that I would soon witness another rare creature slain before my very eyes, I steeled myself for The Bond. I probed outward with the fingers of my mind, and contacted Loque'nahak. Outraged by my intrusion, he charged. In his rage, he stumbled into my freezing trap, and stopped as the cold ice grasped his body. I focused, my eyes locked onto his ethereal gaze, until finally, his mind relented and he stalked proudly to my side. Loque'nahak, spirit beast of Sholazar Basin, was my companion.

Exhausted, we ambled to the bank of Wintergrasp River for a quick drink from its clean waters. I kneeled down before him, and his eyes turned to mine. "Dante, this is your name, do you accept?" I asked. With unblinking eyes, he acknowledged.

Beautifully captivating story :)

Love the 'this particular gryphon felt a little more sluggish than usual' part, that's the worst thing about taming a rare creature, finding that there is no possible solution to get to the location quick enough without the fear of it being slain by a Warrior for his Frostbitten Achievement, or tamed by a member of the opposing faction only to be cast against you. I know that feeling all too well!

Love it :)

Ironically enough, I just tamed Gondria tonight and I already love her much more than Loque'nahak. Can I join your Gondria club, Saturo?

Of course you can!

*Official scene*
- Next on the agenda, let's go gank campers!
*Epic silence*
- Ok, we'll do something less evil...
*Cheers*

Ohh, I'm sorry! /hug I know it sucks for the people that really want him, but the only way I could know whether or not we'd click is if I tamed him. I did look around for other hunters and none were in the area at the time, so I went for it. I've seen him at least two more times since then, completely alone. I've even announced his presence in general and still no response. :(

In fact, I may even end up releasing Loque'nahak now so that I can pick up some other pet down the road. I don't see the point of having two spirit beasts, especially when I so favor one of them over the other. :?

I still manage to love both my Skoll and Loque. I guess it depends on my mood for who I bring out more. I'm weird like that.

Hehe, yeah I'm stuck with all 3 of the ones I have now...and as soon as more stable slots come our way, Gondria's back on my to-get list. x)

Well, I like Dante, but I don't love him. My husband just saw him a night or two ago in Sholazar again, so I know that if I end up releasing and missing him, I can get him back. I guess we'll see what happens when I go to click "abandon".....

I have a hard time keeping so many of one pet, though, when there are so many families out there! If I keep Dante, that will leave me with four ferocity pets (two of which are spirit beasts) and one tenacity pet. I feel like I ought to have at least one cunning pet, lol. And I do miss my silithid.....

I know exactly how you feel....part of me wants to let go of at least one of my three Spirit Beasts, but I just.....can't. ;_; My Skoll and Arcturis are permies for sure...I spent too long camping for Skoll and he's my absolute favourite, and with my new connection to Vengeance...no way I can let him go. I suppose if it had to be any of them it would be my Loque, but I really love him too, he's just so beautiful. I don't think I could go through with it. I have 5 ferocity pets now...and all of them are Exotic. I don't have a cunning or a tenacity, but I just love all of my current pets.

Need more stable slots NAO.
